Texas Dunks On Mark Cuban – State House Passes “Star Spangled Banner Protection Act”
The Mix ^ | 6/4/2021 | James Conrad

In February, we reported that Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban had stopped playing the national anthem before his team’s games. This has since come back to haunt Cuban, as Texas Republicans have fired back by hitting him right where it hurts – his wallet.

Cuban never publicized not playing the national anthem. The news of what he was doing only broke at the time because other teams noticed on their own that “The Star Spangled Banner” never played. Cuban tried to defend himself at the time in a statement to NPR:

Why didn’t more fans notice it sooner?

I was wondering if the so-called “Black national anthem” was “Booty Shaker”, “Baby Got Back”, or “Who Let The Dogs Out?”

It’s wonderful to withhold state funding. But the larger question is why do they get it in the first place?

‘Texas Dunks On Mark Cuban – State House Passes “Star Spangled Banner Protection Act”’

Cuban reminds me of the rest of the social media billionaires. Made a big score on an internet sites that produces nothing but hot air and disinformation and that qualifies them to rule the universe.

From the article, at the end:

“Texas Republicans Fire Back
Republican state Rep. Dustin Burrows hit back at Cuban in March by sponsoring Senate Bill 4, also known as the “Star-Spangled Banner Act.”

This bill makes it so that while sporting teams have the right to not play the national anthem, those who do not play it will not be eligible for any funding from the state.

How genius is that?!

“It’s very simple. If they do not want to play the national anthem, they don’t take the tax dollars,” Burrows told the Texas Tribune. “If we’re going to go ahead and subsidize with hard-earned American dollars the sporting facilities and the teams in the different ways that I think is articulated in this bill, then this would apply.”

“The Star Spangled Banner Act” was passed this week. And, it is now headed to the desk of Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who will undoubtedly sign it into law.

Democrats Try To Fight Back
The debate over the “The Star-Spangled Banner Act” got intense on Monday, as state Democrats argued that teams should be required to play both the “Star-Spangled Banner” and “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” which is the so-called “Black national anthem.”

“I don’t even understand why we would feel the need to force someone into singing any song,” said Rep. Jasmine Felicia Crockett (D). “But if we are going to force people to sing a song, we should at least be mindful of the people playing on these teams, the people that are actually in the stands supporting these teams.”

However, Democrats were not successful in adding that song to the bill.

You’ve got to love Texas. God bless the Lone Star State!”

I really and truly despise Democrats. Lest anyone think that Texas Democrats are any better than those elsewhere, they aren’t - the only difference is that they might speak with a bit of a twang and wear boots...otherwise, they are the same anti-American scumbags as the coastal Demonrats.

Democrat mayors are not celebrating July 4th either. In St. Paul, Minnesota the mayor since 2018 has not but has hired several friends for salaries over $100k and near Torrance Long Beach CA area where I use to go decades and watch with the relatives they cancelled due to “funding” yet they spend on everything else that is useless. Biden blocking July 4th at Mount Rushmore!!

Favorite Democrat irrelevant rant, start with a lie. No one is forced to sing any song under this bill.

Yahoo’s purchase of Cuban’s company during the dot com boom is regarded as one of the worst acquisitions of all time. 5.7 billion dollars worth of hot air.

“Single Ladies”

There’s so many to choose from.

Hell, I never thought I’d look back on 90’s ‘rap’ and think well, it’s better than what’s going on the radio today... (Cardi-B, Megan Thee Stallion, etc.).

I’d just change to “And the girls just want to be called”, as in “What’s with this name callin’, we not here to hear y’all blast each other”.

Not enough, unless each infraction can be defined as a set amount of money! Unless, the Act indicates that any single infraction nullifies all funding for a 12-month period.

Stupid waste of time. I don’t really give a frack what the the Mavericks do at their games. Anyone stupid enough to watch these kneelers deserves to be spit upon by the players.

This isn’t actually an issue that the state should be involved in.

How about no state funding for sports teams whether or not they play the National Anthem. There is a certain irony in singing about the Land of the Free in an arena the allegedly free were forced to pay hundreds of millions in taxes for.

One step at a time.

First, you have some really notorious incident (like this situation) to get funding cut in certain instances. Once that happens, all of a sudden people who wouldn’t have even given funding of this type a second thought will say, “Hey, why are we working class stiffs paying taxes to help support the billionaires who own sports teams?” THAT is when real progress is made.

One step at a time.
——that’s what government types do all the time, little bit, little bit, little bit, and suddenly a big deal.
