In the year 2020, Portland, Oregon reduced its police budget by $15 million, and eliminated 84 positions in its police department.
On May 31, 2021, the Seattle Times reported:
“As of Sunday morning, 37 people had died in Portland homicides this year, a more-than-sevenfold increase compared with the first five months of last year, and a stark contrast to Seattle, a larger city, where 11 homicides had been recorded as of late May. So far this year, the victims have disproportionately been people of color.”
So the number of murders has had a “more-than-sevenfold increase” compared to the same time last year, and “the victims have disproportionately been people of color.”
In other words, the white progressives and leftists who control the government of Portland, Oregon, are waging war against people of color by defunding the police, and allowing violent criminals to commit more murders.
Clearly, the white progressives and leftists in Portland do not believe that black lives matter.

No mention that the perps were disproportionally “people of color” as well.

when I read about all the murders across the country being mostly black, the only thing I think of is that they should all be black.

So, if police arrest non-whites in disproportionately high numbers, it’s racism.
But when city policies kill non-whites in disproportionately high numbers, it’s OK?
Sounds like racism to me.
I would postulate the the perpetrators are also “disproportionately” colorful people. Although with the standard set nationwide with blacks committing 33% of the homicides and only compromising 13% of the population disproportionate might take a new meaning.

You’d think the increase of homocides would have greater concern than what color the victims are. But then it wouldn’t be Portland-eze!
So...the heinousness of homicide depends on the skin color of the victim.
Just based off social media commentary....it would appear that drug usage in the Portland area over the past year has gone up a notch or two (way more than marijuana). So I’d suggest half of the deaths are gang or drug empire related.
