You heard wrong.

In one example a paroled con went to murder a woman who helped his wife divorce him. He shot her through the heart with a 9mm FMJ. The bullet went through her, through the wall behind her across to the next apt bldg and passed through another wall and finally buried itself in the wall above a sleeping couple. Don’t buy caliber hype. 9mm is extremely effective and deadly.

The meat target results suggest otherwise. (time index 10:50 or so). As you can see, about the same penetration as .357 magnum in this test (albeit with less damage done via tissue shock).
