My .41 mag Henry carbine is an excellent whitetail killer...the .40 has lost some shine but it isn’t going away... I like the .45acp better however...

41 is still around for hunting and self defense. S&W still makes the Model 57.

I thought the .41 would be on this list. I recall as a teen I read some book where the hero (called to assassinate a Nazi in the 1970’s iirc) used one.
Surprised to see the .40 on this list. It may not be popular in new guns, but I’m guessing that there are enough of them out there already that the cartridge isn’t going anywhere.

if one is not a weak female or wimpy soy-fed male shooter. The 357 sig is softer shooting than the 40 S&W. It's actually a better cartridge than 40 for women and soyboys. Not that it isn't a good cartridge, but the 40 is famous for giving women trouble, especially in compacts and subcompacts where limp-wristing will cause frequent stovepipes.

The only miss was the .40 S&W.
It delivers a lot more power than the 9mm, in the same form factor.

The .40 is snappy and kicks a bit, 10’s are smoother. I have two baby Glocks in both (27 and 29, I think). I can hit the shit with the 10. The 10 may over-penetrate, but I would rather carry that one.
Mi Dos Centavos.

You heard wrong.
In one example a paroled con went to murder a woman who helped his wife divorce him. He shot her through the heart with a 9mm FMJ. The bullet went through her, through the wall behind her across to the next apt bldg and passed through another wall and finally buried itself in the wall above a sleeping couple. Don’t buy caliber hype. 9mm is extremely effective and deadly.

“32 acp is going to be around for a long time.”
It was John Browning’s favorite pistol round so that’s good enough for me.

“I’ve heard that you can stop a 9mm with a lot of layers of clothing.”
You may have heard that, but it’s bullshit.

Dead, Dying,Obsolete Handgun Cartridges?
I don’t own any of them.
But let me make it perfectly clear, you can easily kill a man with a .22LR pistol.

It may not be popular in new guns, but I’m guessing that there are enough of them out there already that the cartridge isn’t going anywhere.Well, if the current congress/administration pass a new mag ban, .40 will probably increase in popularity, as it did in the 1990's. A lot of folks prefered having 8-10 rounds of .40 available, over 8-10 rounds of 9mm...

If you’re willing to wait 10-15 minutes to bleed out, assuming you even hit something vital.
Otherwise they could live for several days.

I have killed hogs (200 lbs) with a .22 to the ear. Dropped them deader than dead. (9mm, 10, .40, .357, you name it)
