In an interview with Good Morning America Tuesday morning, Dr. Anthony Fauci admitted to having continued to wear a mask indoors for appearance's sake, not based on the science surrounding the protection of the vaccine.
Responding to questions on how the new mask mandates have changes his own personal mask wearing tendencies, Fauci responded, "I'm obviously careful because I'm a physician and a healthcare provider. I am now much more comfortable in people seeing me indoors without a mask.
"Before the CDC made the recommendation change," Fauci admitted, "I didn't want to look like I was giving mixed signals. But being a fully vaccinated person, the chances of my getting infected in an indoor setting is extremely low, and that's the reason why in indoor settings now, I feel comfortable about not wearing a mask because I'm fully vaccinated," Fauci continued, speaking to the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine.
However, Sen. Rand Paul questioned Dr. Fauci recently on the necessity of masking after recovering from natural infection or vaccination. "Given that no scientific studies have shown significant numbers of reinfections of patients previously infected or previously vaccinated, what specific studies do you cite to argue that the public should be wearing masks well into 2022?"
Fauci didn't understand the connection, he said, about "masks and reinfection."
"You're telling everyone to wear a mask," Paul said, whether they have immunity or not. "If we're not spreading the infection, isn't it just theatre?"
"No, it's not."
"You've got the vaccine and you're wearing two masks, isn't that just theatre?" Paul asked.
"Here we go again with the theatre," Fauci said dismissively. "Let's get down to the facts." Fauci discredited the studies, but now, it turns out, Fauci believes that masking post vaccination is all about the optics, the theatre of it, and not the science at all.
The CDC updated their guidelines on mask wearing last week, saying that fully vaccinated Americans no longer need to wear a mask indoors or out.
Rand Paul was right.

....not so fast, citizen.... just saw on the local Austin TX version of Pravda that beginning this weekend, the city of Austin and the People’s Democratic County of Travis are RE-instituting a mandatory mask edict....yet again, and despite the CDC’s guidelines...it is nothing less than an exercise in control...we have the power to tell you how to live your lives and we are damned sure gonna exercise that power....
Hmm. How can you possibly know if a person is vaccinated or not based on whether they are wearing a mask? If you are fully vaccinated, how do you know if you are among the 95% who become immune, or are one of the 5% who is still susceptible? Wearing a mask isn’t just about me, it’s about the people I might encounter when I go shopping and so forth.
Lately, during doctor visits, my providers and I discuss our vaccine reactions. And we all still wear a mask.
Lastly, I wouldn’t count on durable immunity in those who have recovered from Covid-19. Immunity to other coronaviruses typically lasts a few months; it is best to assume that SARS-CoV-2 immunity has a similar duration until more studies are complete and we have a better understanding.
We still have not reached a level of vaccination that would cause herd immunity to kick in. At least 60% of the population must be immune for herd immunity to have an effect; we are still below that number.

You are forgetting the tens of millions of those who have gotten the virus, recovered, and already have the antibodies. That is in effect, natural vaccination.

My poor Fiancé just texted me and is really pissed off. She works for Bancorp South bank which is headquartered in Mississippi. She works at a branch in Mississippi. They just sent out an email stating that employees who have been vaccinated no longer need to wear a mask and anyone who has not been vaccinated must continue to wear a mask. If you lie about it you could be terminated.
Last week corporate sent out an email asking the employees if they had been vaccinated and if not why not. If they were planning to get vaccinated ...when did they think they would get the vaccination and did the employees think that vaccinations should be mandated for employees. I told her she can either lie and take a chance on being terminated, stand her ground and wear the mask or find another job.
So Facci lied to Paul. I will assume there will be no ramifications to lying to senate questioning which is why we have runaway government.
