Colonial pipeline shuts down. Major east west corridor transit on I-40 shut down. Mississippi River shut down with coal barges in queue to supply power plants which supply power to refineries. Call me nutz, but is seems we are under siege. In particular in Trump country.

I am not one of them.
While Mike Adams is often guilty of looking at things as a worst case scenario, there is no doubt that food is likely to be more of an issue going forward. Preparing for the worst, and hoping for the best is just the way I have always thought about life in general.
I’ve monitored reports for the last couple of years, and due to cooler weather than usual, there were shortages in Europe during the winters.
China in particular, has been hard hit by floods, locusts, and disease, and other places in the world, are already having problems. High demand and increasing prices are a reality for the USA.
In general, since 2008, every trip to the store, we buy one can to use and one for the storage. When meat is on sale, we buy 10-20 lbs, and can it. Also buy extra beans and rice every month. Hoping we have enough to take care of extended family, and maybe an elderly neighbor or two.
We also have food hiding in plain sight. All sorts of native plants that are nutritious and edible. Some people think of Dandelion for example as a weed-no the leaves, flowers, and roots are edible and quite nutritious, and it’s one of the first plants available in the spring. And we never have put any pesticides or herbicides on our lawn.

Bugging out May probably be the only way to survive in a crowded Urban environment, but they’re a lot of areas where you’re better off to hunker down and count on your weapons.

The book is fiction but the scenarios he paints are far too feasible. I know there’s debate about the effect an EMP would have, but there are other things that could take down the power grid and disrupt the supply chain.
That book got me really serious about prepping.
