JUST IN: Governor DeSantis Declares State of Emergency Over Gas Shortage in Florida #BidenGasLines

Governor Ron DeSantis Tuesday evening declared a state of emergency over Florida’s gas shortage after “hackers” caused the Colonial Pipeline to shut down.

DeSantis said the state’s Attorney General is on the lookout for price gouging.

According to Fox 13, between 1/3 and 1/2 of gas stations in Florida are out of gas.

Long lines and gas shortages are being reported in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

Panic buying Escambia County caused gas prices to surge:

SKY HIGH GAS PRICES: We’ve received calls into the @weartv newsroom about this #gas station in #EscambiaCounty selling regular gas for $4.29/gallon. Within a minute of our news car showing up, it was dropped to $3.29. Check it out 👇🏼 Are you paying more at the pump? #GasShortage pic.twitter.com/ghyAnQO7f6

GAS SHORTAGE: This driver recorded long lines at six gas stations in Quincy, Florida on Monday, as several southeastern states face gas shortages due to the shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline from a cyberattack. https://t.co/u6vGuawxXk pic.twitter.com/GwIhREFbOM

Governor DeSantis’ executive order says “the disruption of Colonial Pipeline operations poses a significant and immediate threat to the continued delivery of such fuel products to the State of Florida and many other states located in the Eastern United States,” and the attack “poses a severe threat to the State of Florida and requires that immediate measures be taken to protect and to facilitate the continued delivery of such fuel products to this State, until such time as Colonial Pipeline operations have fully resumed.”

The order will also remove limits on weight for tanker trucks and allows them to travel around the clock.

Meanwhile, the Biden Admin is sitting back and doing nothing after a cyberattack affected gas distribution for 1/3 of the country.

Governor Roy Cooper also declared a state of emergency over North Carolina’s gas shortage.

The shutdown of the pipeline has affected the refineries. Without the refineries, you have no gas.

Assuming this shutdown hasn't caused petroleum and refineries to disappear from the face of the earth forever, the supply eventually will return to normal.

Most of Central and South Florida are serviced from pipelines back to the Tampa terminals. This gas shortage is most affecting northern parts of Florida from Jacksonville to Tallahassee to Pensacola.

I was out this morning to my local station to refill gas cans, and there were no lines or shuttered pumps.

Because there was a hack, there is no supply...

Because there was a hack, there is no supply...

I have to assume, then, that there's none available at all, at any price. I had supposed that there was some supply, though limited, and it was a question of ensuring that the people who need some can get some of the limited supply. Now that I know there is none, I'll run out to the nearest gas station and wait in line for the gasoline that isn't there.

Just saying people are reporting in that in some areas there is no gas.

As I see price increases in states not served by the Colonial pipeline, don’t think market is functioning properly.

I agree. That station should have left their price at $4.29 and then flipped the bird at the news car.

My guess is that the increase is in anticipation of some of the gas getting shipped to states served by the pipeline, leaving less available overall.

Very few people have the capacity to think the market is functioning properly when the cost of things is putting a dent in their wallets.

Yes, but they're fighting something every bit as insane as the global reaction to Covid-19. For every enlightened person who understands the function of price in times of shortages, there are about 999 more who want to lynch anybody who charges a penny over what they consider "fair." You might as well stand on the beach and command the tide not to wash over you.

Biden knows his toadies in the press will protect him... and that 'the elites' will be just fine... AND maybe a horrible crisis will allow the thug running the Pentagon more time to train our soldiers to kill American citizens for 'wrong' political thoughts...

In short Biden doesn't give a damn - and either to the commie thugs running the place.

Is the media doing their massive investigation and blame into who’s responsible and how something like it can happen?

‘Price gouging’, or ‘fuel shortage caused by folks that mostly don’t need it’. That’s the choice.

If prices went up, demand would go down at some point, and there’d be a reason to expend extra resources to import supply from other areas.

Now the stations just sell out and close, and fuel can’t be found in some areas at any cost that isn’t much worse than the ‘gouging’.

I am guessing you don’t have a daily commute...

I am guessing that this price suppression will mean a lot of people won’t be able to carry out their daily commute, in favor of people idly filling up ‘in case’.

If the prices were allowed to rise, those that truly needed the fuel would be able to purchase priority.

Has nothing to do with energy independence. The supply system is shut down.

Ahhhh Monopolies.

Hi.

I hope you are doing well.

Gouging cannot be possible without supply.

Tampa has about 20% of stations closed for lack of gas. St. Pete has about 10% of stations w/o petrol.

Price yesterday at fill up regular, $2.82. My vehicle requires premium. $3.43 with discount.

I never thought I would see the second term of Jimmah Carter.

History definitely rhymes.
