NOT HAVING IT: Gun Standoff Takes Place After BLM Thugs Try Harassing Diners at Restaurant

A Louisville restaurant patron put a bit of a scare into Black Lives Matter marchers Saturday night when a video caught him pointing a handgun at the protesters in a wild scene amid tables on the sidewalk in front of La Chasse, the Courier-Journal reported.

As seen in a now-viral Twitter video, well over a dozen BLM activists stormed the La Chasse restaurant and started harassing those at the restaurant.

One man from the dining area had enough and decided to pull his gun out on them.

The protesters were armed and open carrying. They were being aggressive and disruptive.

You are correct that one option would be to depart, if they would let you do so.

Another option would be to stand your ground, in defense of yourself, family, or other present innocents.

It is taught in CCW classes that sometimes all it takes to deter a threat or attack is presenting the gun. So that is also an option, and if one felt fear of bodily harm would be warranted, but it also has risks all its own.

I would be most concerned about where the muzzle was pointed while he was 'assessing' the changing circumstances in front of him. If he felt the threat was enough to present the gun but not enough to justify shooting, then a 'sul' ready position might have been smarter, keeping the gun pointed down while very ready to point in if necessary.

Other than that, I think the old adage applies...

In short, this is a no win situation for pulling your gun in that instance if you are a man.

If you watch closely, the bald-headed guy to his right is making the "Come here." motion with his fingers.

Also, I wonder if the old guy eared back the hammer as it looked like he had one of those North American single-action revolvers. Not a good gun for quick follow-up shots but evidently it got there attention.

OK, I re-watched the vid and see the young guy on his left surrender. I also picked up that the gal (the owner?) waving her arms at the crowd looked like she was carrying a holstered pink pistol (???)

This is one of the hundreds of thousands of incidents every year where an armed citizen pulls a gun and prevents further violence. The Antifa goons (aka modern day brown shirts ) were also armed, just like some goof who walks into a 711 and demands everyone get down — before shooting them.
If you pull your gun in self defense be prepared to kill and go down. Otherwise, stay home. If shooting starts and you are outnumbered by their guns, make your first shot the loud-mouthed Ahole who started it. It’s like being confronted by a gang when you were a kid in school. ID the Ahole in charge and make sure he knows that if any violence starts you are going for him — tooth and nail.

I didn’t see the threat of anyone getting raped, beat up etc. Unfortunately that has to happen, ie clear and present danger to pull a gun and shoot someone.

Like I said in my post, I’ve agonized over this situation in my head. I don’t take this lightly, apparently you do.

When I first read the post, THERE WAS NOTHING INDICATING THAT THEY WERE ARMED.

That of course, changes the situation.

I think if you are carrying a gun, you better be carrying some kind of gun owner’s insurance that will cover your ass in the event you get in this situation.

Looks like a North American mini in .22LR or 22mag. a mouses mouse gun! It’s better than nothing. I pocket carry either a Sig365, Keltec P32, Taurus TCP .380 or a Jframe S&W .38spl.

I’ve only pulled a weapon once, dropped the safety and prepared to order the goblin to stop in place. Fortunately he saw me pull the weapon and stopped like a statue, within seconds I cleared the area.

It’s just a matter of time before the BLM/Antifa goons start a shootout with the wrong person and I am sure the media will side with the Brownshirts.
