The Land of Lincoln (Illinois) is seeing epic flight from high taxes and a broken state pension system. We are seeing a tremendous migration shift to Texas and Florida.
This migration is leading to a swelling of single-family housing permits in Dallas, Houston, Atlanta and Phoenix AZ.
We are seeing growth in smaller MSA such as San Angelo TX and Provo UT and uber slow growth in St Cloud MN and Modesto CA (home of Gallo Wines).

I just hope the people moving to Florida are the conservatives getting out of dodge. However, I do know a few liberals who took their pensions and came to Florida. Hopefully not many.
Taxes are not that low in Arizona, Texas or Florida. We have been looking to get out of the liberal hell hole we live in.
Texas especially has some of the highest property taxes in the entire nation. Florida is not that far behind. Sorry but I am not encouraging others to go to the states that we are looking at.
If they are coming from the Chicago area, a lot of them voted for the mess they are fleeing. One-party rule in Chicago since 1932. Failed governors and malignant legislatures for the last twenty years — at least.
I lived in 2 states that were super conservative and got absolutely wrecked by liberals moving in to escape their $hithole states so they could turn their new states into $hitholes.
Yes, but despite reports like this, the Census Bureau has concluded that this kind of migration from blue to red states really wasn’t so profound. Yea, right...
Just realized something. This is a two pronged approach to turning red/purple states blue. Open the border and ruin the big cities. Attack from the North and South.
Shoot folks, Texas is NO Bueno (a little Spanish lingo).
You don’t want to live here, maybe Colorado or Oregon, but definitely not Texas.
I am seeing lots of out-of-state license plates in my part of Texas. Hopefully, they are the “right” people.
We don’t have a state income tax.
Good news for you! My daughter and her new husband are moving to FL. Due to his work situation. They are conservatives. They cannot find a house, though. They are putting in offers #10 and #11 today, hoping to get something soon. Seems everyone moving there from other states are bidding up the housing inventory HUGELY.
She already found a great job; they will hold it open for her into July, if need be.
Are they moving to the Orlando area? There are houses all along Highway 27. A lot of single family homes in the 200K range. I am so glad they are moving to Florida.
Yes, they are moving to Orlando area. Their house here hits the market tomorrow. They are being pretty particular about size (so we can all go visit!) and school quality ratings.
That’s awesome. Schools down here are awful. Bottom 5 in the country. However if they can go ahead on their own, they will do fine. My kids went from Maryland having one of the top education systems to Florida. Bummer. Lol. However their universities are top notch.
Texas republicans are winning by 3 percent now. I don’t think many are the right people.
No state income tax...yet.
Have you seen how much money TX gets from Uncle Sugar annually?
If Deep State decides to go medieval on your heinies and turn off the spigot, TX will be in a world of hurt.
Illegal aliens and miscreants hurt the most. News at 10.
<>No state income tax...yet. (In FL)<>
It would take an amendment to our state constitution to tax incomes.
Air conditioning and interstates are the demise of FL. South FL is a yankee colony.
Like Florida we do not have a state income tax in Washington, but like most places in Florida the property taxes are high as is the sales tax... it depends a little on the county. But do you want a bunch of liberals from up North moving to your state and eventually turning it blue?
