Senator Paul then said Dr. Fauci must answer questions on why he funded dangerous human-viral testing even after it was banned here in the US.
Senator Paul, “There’s a huge ethical question about the origins of the virus. The ethical question is should we be doing gain of function, should we be upgrading animal viruses in the lab to make them more susceptible to humans… We have to ask Dr. Fauci, why did he in overseeing these labs allowed gain of function? Why did he allow labs to get money to upgrade animal viruses so they can infect humans? We got worried about this around 2 or 3 years ago. We closed down about half of them but then Dr. Fauci and his committees opened them back up. We need to ask him why are we doing this in China but are we doing this in the US?”

Have you overheard people having any issues with not having an ID?
And you Senator Paul must answer why you turned-tail and voted to certify the election of a potato, as well as sanctioning unlimited voter fraud.
Oh, my. Perhaps the first thing we should ask is, did whoever wrote this have any formal training in English? This looks like a bad translation from Chinese.
I've already posted this several times, and I will post it again. The researchers at the Wuhan lab did NOT conduct gain of function studies. I read the paper that was used by the fearmongers making this claim (and would link it, but I didn't bookmark the paper at the time). What they did is this:
1) They had a characterized coronavirus in the lab. This virus was perfectly capable of infecting humans. What I mean by "characterized" is that they know how that specific virus attaches to cells and replicates inside them.
2) They collected coronavirus samples from a bat colony.
3) Since they did not know anything about the wild bat viruses, they opted to test a single protein from those viruses. Limiting their experiments to that one protein is a lot safer than throwing wild virus of unknown properties into experiments.
4) The one protein they tested was the spike protein which is responsible for virus attachment to cells.
5) They made several viruses in which they replaced the spike protein of the lab virus with a spike protein of a wild virus. They found that many of the lab viruses that contain wild spike proteins were able to attach to human cells.
6) This only showed that some wild bat coronaviruses have the potential to become human pathogens. It did not show that any of the wild viruses *are* human pathogens, because they only tested the spike proteins, not the complete viruses. It is possible for a virus to attach, but not to cause infection after it attaches.
This kind of research, in which a single component of unknown properties is introduced into a system that is otherwise characterized, is fairly routine and basic. Researchers do these kinds of experiments all the time.
This is from Moderna's SEC filing.

Key sentence from the "description of the business" section--
Since inception, we have incurred significant net losses. As of June 30, 2020, we had an accumulated deficit of $1.74 billion. We may continue to incur significant expenses and operating losses for the foreseeable future. In addition, we anticipate that our expenses will increase significantly in connection with our ongoing activities to support our platform research, drug discovery and clinical development, infrastructure and Research Engine and Early Development Engine, digital infrastructure, creation of a portfolio of intellectual property, expansion into global markets, and administrative support.
We do not expect to recognize significant revenue from sales of potential mRNA medicines unless and until we successfully complete clinical development and obtain regulatory approval for one or more of our investigational medicines. If we seek to obtain regulatory approval for any of our investigational medicines, we expect to incur significant commercialization expenses. Our investigational vaccine against the novel coronavirus (mRNA-1273), which is currently in clinical trials, has been developed rapidly to respond to the global COVID-19 pandemic. We are expending significant efforts to further the rapid development of this potential vaccine and expect to continue to do so over the next 12 months. These efforts have required and will continue to require the expenditure of significant funds and the establishment of significant worldwide infrastructure and partnerships.

Not proof, of course, but "things that make you go Hmmmm"
What patents and conflicts of interest does Faux-Xi have?
Note, that as he's not publishing Federally-funed research as an author, but is a government official promoting policy, I don't think he has the same legal obligation to publish any conflicts of interest up front.
Less than 2 minutes’ search found this.
Note the date from 2015, and the journal.

My god, you are an incompetent flunky.
Rand is playing a role...like Sessions...serious ...but, what do I know except ....that it won’t happen?!
I Wish the good Senator my best.
His salary is more then any Govt. MD I have ever heard of. Our top medical schools are full of Chinese students. Even Vanderbilt is loaded with them. What idiot in our Govt. would allow a communist country to learn bio warfare from the USA? Fauci is pure trash. He needs to be fired and our entire Govt. civil service types need to be investigated. Look at the homes the senior types lower then Fauci own in northern VA. These pukes live lavishly. Most are 500K or more. Many have 2nd homes on the Potomac River.
Good ?/point.
Nope. Everyone I saw there had an ID and there were about 15 people there waiting on line. Why do we need ID? This is the government keeping tabs on people and I bet the ones who didn’t get it are going to be harassed.
How else was he supposed to get the scamdemic going?
Because Fauci is not following the science on masks, vaccine immunity, outdoor masking, and social distancing, Rand Paul has decided to up the ante in his poker game with Fauci.
Excellent move Senator Paul!
Check his bank account
Not we, you. Why asked this already been asked?
DannyTN wrote: “Well we’ve seen the danger of developing a virus without a vaccine. Whether they could have predicted the final spike protein or not, I think they probably could have developed and used vaccines against the strains they were working with that might have contained the modified virus to the lab.”
I’m not an expert in the development of vaccines but I suspect that if it were as easy as you say, then we would do that instead. There must be a reason we don’t do it that way. I suspect the reason is that path doesn’t work.
“There’s a huge ethical question about the origins of the virus. The ethical question is should we be doing Gain of Function [experiments], should we be upgrading animal viruses in the lab to make [humans more susceptible to them]?
"We have to ask Dr. Fauci"
Dr. Anthony Fauci, himself an ideological hybrid of Dr. Mengele and Dr. Frankenstein, sponsored the Gain-of-Function experiments on bat coronaviruses in the Wuhan laboratory that directly caused the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is Fauci's fault and Senator Rand Paul needs to expose every single aspect of it.
Please explain the motive from the book.
They were planning ahead.
This is where the plot thickens. pass the popcorn.
Have you ever learned the meaning of “gain of function?”
