December 18, 1981, The Rolling Stones are playing a concert at Hampton Coliseum in Virginia.
It's a crazy scene. Women at the urinals. Goats coming out of the shower. (Yes, actual goats). Children mingling among the craziness. Mick Jagger swigging Gatorade out of a glass bottle and doing aerobic exercises before going onstage. Keith Richards jamming with George Thorogood, who opened the show (he rocked).
Just a slice of the rock and roll lifestyle from 40 years ago.
Saw Mick and the boys at the Oakland Coliseum on Mick’s birthday 1978 one of the few shows of the Some Girls Tour. Eddie Money, Carlos Santana, Peter Tosh were there to play. Huge delay before the Stones went on stage. A quick tight set. 16 songs and they were back to doing rails offa stripper’s a$$es. Always leave’em wanting more—right? Was down on the field with a bota bag with nice wine, some cheese and salami... guy in front passed out before the Stones came on and finally came around for the finals notes...he stodd up, clapped three times and fell back down.... I learned that one has to pace themselves for these events...Can’t peak too early.
Which one.
Remember when my Mom dragged me to a Tommy Dorsey Concert... Not much else...
No seat designation so I assume it was general admission. That was unfortunately was what happened at that Who show in Cinci.
I have enough cash in my pocket right now to take my entire family to a Rolling Stones concert - in 1981. With money left over for parking, beer and hot dogs.
Maybe some future country star?
(Anybody here like Hank?)

Heart didn’t play in between? I saw them Oct 3 rd in Boulder. Stones opened with “Under My Thumb.”
Funny, I watched an old Stones concert movie yesterday afternoon.

Wonder how the Stones never got cancelled for “Black girls just want to get ...... all night.”
“The Stones, I love the Stones. I watch them whenever I can. Fred, Barney.”

I saw Thoroughgood around that time in the old Agora Ballroom in Atlanta, across the street from the Fox. Good show, we were right up front.
He just released a live album of a performance in Boston from 1982.
Heck there’s a whole song: Brown Sugar.
Now, Mr. Jagger, there is only one question I want to ask you — Jaggs. … And you better have the answer, man, you better have the answer, since you have besmirched the character of black women. Therefore, here is my question, Jaggs.
(Takes off glasses)
Where are all of these black broads, man? Hey, like, where ARE they, baby? You got any phone numbers for me, baby? Please send ’em to me.
(puts glasses back on)
Thank you.
Grace Slick, Ozzy, and David Crosby. They're going to outlive everyone.
