December 18, 1981, The Rolling Stones are playing a concert at Hampton Coliseum in Virginia.
It's a crazy scene. Women at the urinals. Goats coming out of the shower. (Yes, actual goats). Children mingling among the craziness. Mick Jagger swigging Gatorade out of a glass bottle and doing aerobic exercises before going onstage. Keith Richards jamming with George Thorogood, who opened the show (he rocked).
Just a slice of the rock and roll lifestyle from 40 years ago.
Be funny if Keith does wind up outliving Mick, Mick’s been a health freak since the 70s, and has taken good care of himself.
Sounds like a blast. I was 11..
That Joy Behar has been everywhere.
I was there.
I was lucky to find my car.
Cool fall evening, no rain about 60 degrees.
Stayed at Ft. Story after the concert.
IIRC, after George and One Boubon one scotch one beer, Stones opened up with “Start me up.”

No, it was Boom boom out go the lights.
Then again, I won’t sware to any of this.

Hampton Roads was IIRC the last show on that tour. George Thorogood and the Destroyers was the opening act.

Who will Keith Richards be jamming with in 40 years?
Saw them at the meadowlands that tour. They were great.
I remember this concert being broadcast live over FM radio nationally. Not the greatest stones concerts but even when the stones have an off night it is better than most anything else.
I thought Boom Boom Out Go The Lights was Pat Travers.
I think their farewell tour has been re-scheduled to 2031.
I aint swaring to nothin.

Saw them two summers ago @ MetLife Stadium (Giants Stadium) and they can still kick ass. "Forced" my two 20 + year old kids to go and they couldn't believe how good it was.
Now they show up in separate limos 30mins before the show.
Before the blew up the Kingdome in Seattle, I and 3 buddies had very, very good tickets. $350 back then.
We went out to eat at a nice restaurant before the show with 6:00 reservations. As we were leaving, the 4 core Stones arrived. Mick, Keith, Ron and Charlie.
Taller than I expected, fit and high as a kite. We could smell the weed wafting off them. Bright and smiley.
We were leaving at about 7:00 and the show started at 8pm.
The Stones probably beat us back to the venue and they started ON TIME.
It was the best concert I’ve ever seen in all my years and I’ve seen just about everybody but Hendrix and the Beatles.
Three hours of nonstop rock, blues, country and stuff that doesn’t fit a single category. Not a single break except to get a drink and wipe the sweat.
They are the epitome of professional entertainers.
They’ve got so many backing musicians now on their tours.
I prefer it when it’s just the main members on stage.

But sometimes you need the three black chicks on back-up vocals, a piano and a full horn section to reproduce a Stones tune live...
