Janiah Bryant – Ma’Khia’s younger sister – called police in late March and threatened to kill someone if she was not removed from a Columbus-area foster home.
A Columbus Division of Police report states that in the 911 call, Janiah told the dispatcher she wanted to leave the home and return to Franklin County Children Services.
“When CPD officers arrived at the home, Janiah Bryant explained that she got into an argument with her sister, Ma’Khia Bryant, and foster mother, Angela Moore,” wrote Tom Sussi, the Central Ohio investigative reporter who broke the story.
When officers informed Janiah Bryant that they could not place her into another foster home, Janiah Bryant “became irate and stated that if she does not get to leave, then she was going to kill someone in the home.” The officers transported Janiah Bryant to Children’s Hospital for a psychological evaluation, according to the police report.
Records show a history of Moore calling police to the Walnut Heights home to report incidents involving the foster children there, where Sussi reports as many as 10 children may live.
Sussi contacted Moore for comment. She said, “I can’t comment on any of this,” and referred him to Franklin County JFS....

But this is certainly an interesting development in this case.
Sadly, if the foster mother is a good one in this case, and she very well may be, she is going to be put on trial in the media.
It’s a shame we don’t have state orphanages anymore with plenty of well-trained staff.
Those homes didn’t look large enough for 10 kids.
Sounds like this was not first incident
She was out of control
Tsk tsk, can’t blame Whitey for this one.
Thanks in advance" ....
I’m fairly certain foster children have much higher possibility of mental health issues that lead to behavioral problems... and then you have many under one roof. That does create likely possibilities of bad things happening.
I know a bit about CPS in Ohio and if a kid wants to be taken there, the foster home really sucks.

No, they do not.
Crowded conditions are not good for foster kids, I imagine.
Now, I wonder if the foster mother was trying to pack them in there for the money or if she was pressured to take on a lot of kids by Children’s Services because they had more kids in need of foster care than people willing to take them on. Maybe she’s just guilty of not being able to say she has all she can handle right now.
Who runs the homes? Democrats?
Mine wants to call dcf when I send him to his room .
“Tsk tsk, can’t blame Whitey for this one.”
Why not?
Where was the foster parent while this was going on?
“Up to 10 kids” doesn’t mean there were 10 kids there.
What was the circumstance of the fight? Was the gathering because of Bryant’s birthday? Why was dad kicking a kid in the head?
I have two non biological foster kids. They paid me zero dollars the first 6 months and I paid 1500.00 in day care. I finally got a check on the 7th month. 11 months later they cut me off again. I finally got a check this week. Total daily stipend over 20 months is 3.60 a day for each child. To cover food, clothes and everything else. It also took them 6 months to issue me their medical card. No retro on any funds are permitted. It’s been a nightmare.
I am sorry you have to go through this when you are only trying to help kids.
If one good thing can come out of this mess, I hope it shows My’Khia’s foster mom to be a good person trying to help troubled kids under troubling circumstances. I hope a light is shed on how little support there is for good foster parents.
I heard on the news that the fight began because the house was messy and knife girl went crazy when told to clean up her crap.
So why was dad involved, and why the kick in the head? Who called 911?
So was Janiah the one in pink?
No, I don’t think so. PinkGirl seemed to me to be at least a couple years older than KnifeGirl.
But that does beg the question of where KnifeGirl’s little sister Janiah was when all this went down.
OK, we have two sisters in foster care. Would it be in poor taste to ask why?
One tells police she’s going to kill someone if she doesn’t get her way and the other is shot while trying to kill someone else in front of a policeman. And their family is looking to sue the city.
