The Derek Chauvin Conviction is a Travesty for the Ages
dbdailyupdate ^ | David Blackmon

Posted on 04/21/2021 4:10:39 AM PDT by EyesOfTX

So, Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all counts, which is no surprise given the rank jury intimidation engaged in by Democrat politicians, from the Minneapolis Mayor to members of congress and even to the Sock Puppet-in-Chief, who felt the need to weigh in and publicly demand a guilty verdict early on Tuesday. Of course, Biden probably thought he was talking about the OJ Simpson trial, but never mind, the message was sent to the un-sequestered jury, and the Democrat Party got its sacrificial lamb.

Thus, regardless of how we emotionally respond to the images of Chauvin holding his knee on George Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes until he expired – and they are indeed repugnant images – the fact of this case is that we now have a Minneapolis Police officer being convicted of 2nd and 3rd degree murder for doing his job exactly as he had been trained to do it by the Minneapolis Police Department.

So when we see the statistics of that Department having lost more than 20% of its officers over just the past year, we should not pretend to be surprised. And no one, least of all the Democrat politicians who run that city, should pretend to be surprised when that Department loses another 20% of its officers over the next 12 months or so. Nor should they be surprised when their Police Department finds it near-impossible to find qualified young people who are willing to join its ranks in the future.

This is the entirely predictable consequence of basing a trial of a police officer and the jury decision in that trial on pure emotion, rather than on the evidence at hand. The evidence at hand demonstrated pretty clearly that George Floyd, a life-long criminal with a history of beating his girlfriends and other violent behavior, was restrained by police as he was violently resisting arrest, and that Mr. Floyd died while in police custody of an overdose of fentanyl and other drugs that were in his system in great quantities at the time.

Did the pressure applied by Chauvin’s knee contribute to that death? Possibly, but that was far from proven beyond a reasonable doubt, which used to be the required threshold for a guilty conviction in the American court system. The threshold today appears to be whatever gangs of violent rioters and looters on the streets of our nation’s Democrat-run cities demand that it be.

America used to boast of being a nation of laws and not of men. Today’s America has devolved into a nation governed by emotions and mobs. If the last five years have proved nothing else, they have definitely demonstrated beyond all reasonable doubt that our country’s system of justice has been well and truly destroyed by the radical left, with the willing complicity of a corrupt, Nazi-style media establishment. The Chauvin decision itself is not a death knell for our country, but the process that led to it surely is.

That is all.

Cops are already leaving the profession in droves. Many won’t respond to calls involving drugs, blacks, or civil violence of any kind. Medical issues are the worst to be involved with and present the highest risk to the cop. You can only serve and protect if the public protects you in return.

“Which is why Derek Chauvin administered a form of euthanasia, not murder.”

BS. He administered nothing that killed Floyd. Nothing.

Good thing Florida just passed their anti-riot law.

Lots more of this situation to unfold over time.

At the intersection where Floyd was pinned down, a crowd chanted,
"One down, three to go!" - a reference to the three other fired
Minneapolis officers facing trial in August on charges of aiding
and abetting murder in Floyd's death.

****

Lots more news to come in the future as this event unfolds over time.

Re: "holding his knee on George Floyd's neck for 9 minutes"

7 minutes and 46 seconds, actually.

Also, the autopsy found no injuries or bruising to Chauvin's mouth, tongue, throat, trachea, neck, or back.

Floyd's death certificate states that cardiopulmonary arrest was the cause of death.

The CDC explicitly states that cardiopulmonary arrest cannot be a cause of death unless it is preceded by a clear sequence of medically identifiable events.

The coroner's scientific solution to that problem was to claim that George Floyd went into cardiopulmonary arrest because his "body just couldn't take it anymore."

Did I forget to mention that Floyd swallowed a fatal dose of fentanyl just moments before he was arrested?

You did forget to mention one of the cops told Chauvin that his handcuffed prisoner had no pulse and that Chauvin refused to render aid.

I understand your sentiment......

.....now the story is ( according to her mother) ‘she dropped her knife before the policeman shot her’

Millennials seeking a reason for being, seeking meaning in their “true esteem”-less, “group project saved my grade”, get blue ribbons for participating and Godless lives.

Aren’t many of these A holes, the same kind of A holes that would join ISIS?

Like most everything in this old world, things change either for the best or worst. LE used to be known as Peace Officers focused on protecting and serving where most everyone knew each other. As communism started steadily creeping in, many in LE started treating the general public as criminals.

Lost count a long time ago of the many times I de-escalated a simple traffic stop. Noticed this behavior mostly in the big cities with suburbs running a close second followed by rural.

It simply boils down to attitude and respect for those that truly desire to serve and protect.

As stated up-thread, the US was designed for a moral and upright people whereas any other is doomed to fail with guaranteed misery for most all.

All so true. I deplore the state of government today because I deplore the people. My sister is a cop, a CSI. Her work exposes her to the most horrific murders along the Mexico border. How she stays sane is a mystery to me.

Yeah. If I’m a cop why would I try to arrest a black assailant now?

Derek Chauvin is guilty of making all police officers (especially White police officers) look like violent, racist murderers. Law enforcement officers are going to have hell of time doing their jobs. Thanks Derek.
