I heard a “sports” talk radio show last night still pimping that this guy was pulled over for an air freshener.
No mention of expired tags, or the outstanding warrant.
He told his mom that because he didn’t tell his mom that he was pulled over previously and the cops found a gun in his car. He ran away on foot and they issued a bench warrant when he didn’t show up TO A COURT ZOOM MEET, so he was being arrested for an outstanding warrant.
None of this excuses the woman cop for shooting him, but at least be honest about his charges. The kid filmed himself doing community service for crime back when he was 14.
Just another good example that the ultimate end of any rule or regulation is enforced down the barrel of a gun.
Rules? Bureaucrap!
Forgot which USSC case it was but basically the police can pull you over just to see if you have your DL and ins card on you.
someone got shot somewhere recently
WTF is CNN even talking about right now? Air fresheners?
Who controls the news cycle? CNN is just another tiny little beholden pawn in the web of information, but they all twitch synchronously when the spider tugs at it. Who is the spider?
This happened to me 20 years ago.
Everything about this article is fake. Unadulterated garbage from CNN as usual.
This is another example of a fellow choosing not to follow a police officer’s instructions because of his own attitude ....
The inability to follow simple rules ends with disaster.
What's next? Outlawing blinking while driving?
I’m guessing that hanging air fresheners in your car is a sign to police that you are doing your best Cheech and Chong impression, and that you are trying to cover up the smell.
While I don’t think laws should make it a legal offense to hang things from your car’s rearview mirror, I personally think common sense suggests it’s a bad idea.
<< Such minor infractions have been questioned by Black motorists and others who view them as a pretext for racially motivated traffic stops. >>
Then don’t hang stuff from your windows if you’re that worried about it. Not difficult. Also, don’t run away when caught with an illegal firearm in your car, and then fail to show up for your ZOOM court date. It’ll result in you being issued a bench warrant. But if you decide to ignore all that advice, don’t drive around with an outstanding warrant expecting not to get caught. And finally, if you are caught, definitely don’t flee the cops. Simple rules, easy to follow. For most people, at least.
I’ve got a bunch of stuff hanging from the mirror. One time, I hung a game call on a lanyard. On a hard right turn, the call swung across the steering wheel and fell through. Locked it up. I don’t do that any more.
does not pass the smell test.
So on my truck I have a plastic parking pass for my office parking garage and a GPS suction cupped to the window.
Getting pulled for that is the last of my concerns.
I virtually never go to the office but they haven’t asked for the pass back so I’m keeping it. There are about 150 employees and only 90 or so garage spaces. The rest park in overflow a block away. The overflow parkers get a couple extra days off as a bonus.
Couple of weeks before we moved from FL to MO, I got pulled over for not having a seat belt on and got a $113 ticket. Here in MO, they won’t pull you over for just a seat belt but they’ll give you a seat belt ticket if they pull you over for something else like speeding. The seat belt ticket here is $10.
I’m sure it’s lost on the CNN idiots, but DJT was all about DE-REGULATION.
EVERY little bit of this story has liberalism writ large. Unpunished criminals, petty bureaucratic rules, feminist ideology, affirmative action, woke mayor, woke police force . . . .
But their tacit root cause? Republican racism.
