Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon calls the shooting of Daunte Wright an "accidental discharge":
“It is my belief that the officer had the intention to employ their taser, but instead shot Mr. Wright with a single bullet.” pic.twitter.com/TM2mn3VXZv— Daily Caller (@DailyCaller) April 12, 2021
CHIEF GANNON: "I was front and center at the protest, at the riot."
QUESTIONERS: "Don't do that... There was no riot."
CHIEF GANNON: "There was... The officers were being pelted with frozen cans of pop, pelted with concrete blocks... an officer was hit in the head with a brick" pic.twitter.com/MxjPoQqMiE— Daily Caller (@DailyCaller) April 12, 2021

QUESTIONER: "Will you commit to protecting protesters and the people of this city."
CHIEF GANNON: "I am committed to protecting the peaceful protesters of this city every day."
QUESTIONER: "Not yesterday."
CHIEF GANNON: "Peaceful protesters." pic.twitter.com/SJDE7ta7Gs— Daily Caller (@DailyCaller) April 12, 2021
A classic example of “buck fever”.
A grand jury will indict the police officer.
Wouldn’t be the first time a cop has shot and killed someone by mistaking their gun for a taser. I think that happened somewhere on the west coast several years ago.
Put her on suicide watch. Protect her family. There will be a murder over this.
I’ll taze you! I’ll taze you!
Tazer! Tazer! Tazer! Bang!
Oh $#*+! I just shot him!
I watched the video and the black cop had the suspect with his hands behind his back, but he kept fumbling with the handcuffs for so long that the suspect just twisted away from him and jumped back into his car.
In the end, the person most responsible for the death is the dead guy. It was his decision to resist arrest by attempting to run away that led to the deadly encounter. A fool making a foolish choice paid the ultimate price.
“A hell of a price to pay for being stylish.”
Shot while fleeing. I’d be more lenient if that was standard for anyone fleeing the cops and an arrest, but she knew the protocol and that wasn’t it.
At the least manslaughter, likely in the second degree seems correct to me.
But I could be wrong here, if this guy had a history of violence... some questions have to be asked, and we need a clear investigation.
What a horrible mistake
I can’t even imagine her pain or the oain if the family Police have long asked for tasers to NOT be made to look like guns
Why would anyone work for a local police force? That job requires you work with the lowest parts of society
Work for one of the dozens of Fed.gov law enforcement agencies. After all, there is zero chance they will be defunded, or even investigated.
Isn’t that the Holder-Obama plan anyway? Eliminate any local control and local cops?
What chaos...Instead of hiring street savvy men who can physically take care of themselves and are trainable, they put women in these positions to deal with seasoned criminals who are stronger and faster than they are. As long as they have some college credits, they’re good to go!
I find this quite insane.
So if George Floyd was worth $27 million, seeing as this kid is considerably younger, he’s probably worth about $40 million.
I know people can do some strange things under stress, for even a poorly-trained officer to think she drew her Taser from (I presume) its cross-draw holster rather than her pistol from its strong-side holster is hard to fathom. But her surprise certainly sounded genuine.
Unless there’s some aggravating (something suggesting she actually intended to shoot the guy) or mitigating (evidence of grossly-inadequate training) evidence out there, it seems like there might be a good case for second-degree manslaughter here.
Trump’s fault, right?
Is the female officer dyslexic and can’t tell her left side (where the taser was holstered) from her right side (where her handgun was holstered)?
This isn’t fighting for sport.
This isn’t fighting to see who’s best at it.
This is fighting that can turn into a life and death struggle real fast.
We have spent a tremendous amount of time, energy and money developing and enforcing laws for people in this country.
When someone decides that they don’t have to obey our laws, then they become an outlaw.
Will an outlaw shoot a police officer to escape?
Well this is the police they wanted. The police haters (many on here) will do the typical lament and hate on. My point of contention is who forces hire and the lack of skill and training let alone the fact most have no right to come close to putting on the badge.
The shooter was panicked out of her mind. Police forces absolutely must screen candidates for self control before arming them, whoever failed to do so, or pushed politically correct quotas or whatever are responsible for this killing. She was a major threat even to the other cop — he’s lucky to be alive.
