As a result, it is impossible to know exactly how many firearms may have changed hands in March.
Critics of the system, including many lawmakers, have argued for a universal background check system that would track every firearm. But clearly it would be impossible even to know where to start as private sales that are legal in many states make it impossible to know who exactly may have purchased a firearm.
What is an absolute certainty is that at least two million additional firearms are now in private hands, joining the more than 470 million already owned across the United States. And even with a slight slowdown in sales in March, there is no reason to believe that 2021 won’t be another strong year in overall firearms sales.

At some point they will be used. Starting with the attempted round up.
Oh, they know where to start - it's if they can ever finish is another thing.
We have to make sure the Federal bureaucrats aren’t allowed to confiscate them to arm the Federal Government.

The federal government might manage gun laws as well as they do immigration laws. The legal, responsible applicants are left in the third world, while the drunk driver and the adolescent prey pursuer are around the corner. Repentance before God is fhe hope for today.
Yeah, but we need more ammo and spare magazines for them.
We could send a non-transferable $400 voucher towards the gun of your choice and $50 voucher for ammo and $50 for an in person training class and provide a free online training class. Online training class to include safety, importance of the 2nd amendment, and self defense.
Require the following to use the vouchers:
This would cost $61 billion. It would accomplish the following:
Just an expensive Random thought.
Wow, I feel like I've fallen behind...
That’s a good idea for the next pendulum swing towards Republican majority government. Government employees in a few particular occupations tend to struggle the most against our rights as stated in the Second Amendment. The funding can come from their dismissals.
I’m doing my share. I just ordered 2 rifles. One in .22 Long Rifle for plinking, and one in 6.5mm Creedmoor for long range shooting. Both are supposed arrive on April 22.
Not to worry, the confiscated weapons will go directly to the illegal military age male children pouring across our borders.....
Went to my local farm and gun supply store last week. The only ammo on the shelf was 6.5mm Creedmoor. It has been on the shelf for months.
I bet it was expensive.
I reload for all of my guns. The only components I needed for 6.5mm Creedmoor were bullets and brass. I how have enough components to load 1200 rounds of 6.5 Creedmoor, assuming I get 5 loads on each piece of brass.
There is not a single politician in DC, R or D, that in his/her heart of hearts does not desire an unarmed citizenry.
There’s almost as many guns as there are dead people registered as Democrats.
Just got back from Atwood’s Farm and ranch store. Still lots of 6MM Creedmoore in stock. nothing else.
Also they had a big box of Magpul 30 rd magazines. Lots of them!
I almost added to that number this weekend but passed it up for two reasons.
12 ga single shot shotgun at a decent price. At a yard sale too, had the cash for it.
1. Can’t find anything but bird shot for a 12 ga right now, #8 and #9 shot mostly. I have a good 16 ga pump already and really don’t need another. Have about 30 buckshot for it. Have about 8 or 10 slugs too but I’d have to swap to the modified barrel for those. Slugs are not going into the new full choke barrel.
2. Hard to open the thing and eject a spent round. I could barely push the tab hard enough to open it.
Finally decided I just don’t need another shotgun, or not one I can’t find ammo for anyway...
