Caitlyn Jenner flirts with run for governor

Former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner is actively looking into running for California governor in a recall election to replace Gov. Gavin Newson, according to several sources.
The reality television star is in discussions with GOP political consultants on the matter, indicating the former Kardashian stepfather would run as a Republican.
With Newsom likely facing a recall election later this year, a challenge from Jenner, a transgender Republican, could weaken the incumbent Democrat’s support among the powerful LGBTQ lobby in California, the most populous state.
Jenner is being advised by Caroline Wren, a longtime GOP fundraiser, the news site Axios reported on Tuesday. Wren met Jenner through Jenner’s work with the American Unity Fund, a GOP nonprofit group that concentrates on LGBT concerns.
Wren is a former staffer with Trump Victory, a fundraising committee to elect Trump in 2020, and helped coordinate the rally where the President spoke before the U.S. Capitol melee on Jan. 6.
Neither a Jenner spokesperson nor Wren would comment on the matter.
Jenner, who became world famous in 1976 after winning the Olympic decathlon, married in the Kardashian family in 1991 and was seen often on the “Keeping up with the Kardashians” reality show.
In 2015, Jenner publicly identified as a woman and adopted the name Caitlyn.
