Two of the biggest newspapers in the state of California, the Los Angeles Times and the San Diego Union-Tribune, reported losing “north of $50 million” in annual revenue over the course of the year 2020, according to The Hill.

Chris Argentieri, the president of the two newspapers’ parent company California Times, revealed the losses in a recorded conference call with staff. The situation represented a “catastrophic drop in revenue for the company north of $50 million, on top of a business that was already using cash and not producing cash,” Argentieri said, explaining that the losses came from both print advertising and digital advertising....

Sorry, not sorry.

Why would anyone subscribe to a paper anymore when they can get their news from the Internet and be lied to for free?

And if no one subscribes to papers, why advertise in them?

Journalism is dead.

The newspapers are only now being taken off the respirator.

Psst, LA Times? SD Tribune? Remember that the exception in AB5 for newspaper delivery is expiring. Just thought I’d add to your pleasure.

Think of all the trees that will be saved.

Perhaps those journalists can learn to code....

According to Twitter, telling a journalist to code is hateful speech.

Newspapers no longer separate fact from opinion. Reporters use their opinions or quotes from others to serve their own agenda. Younger people rarely are seen reading papers. Older people have lost interest. I used to find previously read newspapers in places such as coffee shops. Available just to peruse. No longer. I enjoyed newspapers perhaps crossword puzzles mostly. No more.

I don’t know the subscription rate for these two California rags but if my local “newspaper” is any indication, they are obscene. Not only the high rate but the content will turn away anybody with 3 synapses firing. I haven’t a clue as to how they remain in business. Do they provide every hotel/motel room in the state with a free copy (USA Today style)?

They both suck. The Union went left in the 80’s.

These clowns claim to give us unbiased "news." It is anything but unbiased and "news." You shall know them by their works. Mathew 7:16. I have no sympathy for wolves pretending to be sheep. May they all lose their proverbial ass, especially the owner of the LA Slime, a billionaire who deserves a rude awakening. Stop pretending to be objective. Everyone would have respect if you stop pretending.

I was asked today to subscribe to the Houston Comical. The guy said “Subscribe for a lottery ticket?” I told him I wouldn’t subscribe if he paid me.

I felt a bit sorry for the guy. He said I was not the only one who told him that

I used to buy the Sunday paper for the coupons, but at five bucks a paper it would have to have at least ten bucks of coupons for things that I really need or want for it to be worth it.

I used to flip through the coupons to see if it was worth it to buy the paper, but I even stopped doing that because I would almost rather not save five bucks on stuff and not give my money to the stupid company that bought out what was once a decent family-run newspaper.

If we actually had real journalists today that would be a start. Our media is like this Presidency.

Had the same experience with a local paper. The “gentlemen,” sitting behind a desk at a major supermarket, said he would give me a few months free. I replied I would not take the paper even if you paid me. Poor guy, never saw him again, must have changed jobs, and there has never been another barker at the market again.

Derps are too stupid to read the paper and normals quit reading their propaganda rags. That don't leave many people to buy the yellow journalism.

That's the story, dimwit fake journos.
