Earlier in the week, Biden announced that Kamala Harris would “lead our efforts” with Mexico and “Northern Triangle” countries on his “not-a-crisis” border crisis, calling Harris “the most qualified person to do it” — with the first “it” being “stemming the flow of ‘irregular migrants’ [LOL] to the U.S.”
Biden said on Wednesday, per The Hill: (emphasis mine)
“I have asked her, the VP, today, because she is the most qualified person to do it, to lead our efforts with Mexico and the Northern Triangle and the countries that are going to need help in stemming the movement of so many folks, stemming the migration to our southern border.”
A White House official later reiterated Biden’s comments — to a T.
“She’ll work first on the goal of stemming the flow of irregular migrants to the U.S. [..] but at the same time, the real goal is to establish a strategic partnership with these countries based on respect and shared values.”
Again, “[t]he focus in the near term will be on stemming the flow of migrants to the U.S.,” the official said, “a process that will include securing the border, providing a surge in humanitarian assistance, and creating legal pathways for migrants to come to the U.S.”
Clear as a bell to you? Me, too. Just as it was clear as a bell to the New York Times’ homeland security correspondent Zolan Kanno-Youngs, among innumerable others.

Combined with Biden’s sounded like a done deal.

Yeah, well, you, me, Zolan, and a bunch of other people were apparently mistaken.
According to Harris spokesperson Symone Sanders — via Breitbart News White House correspondent Charlie Spiering — Cackles is not “doing the border.”

Got that, America? Did Sanders reiterate that clearly enough for you? Cackles is not “doing the border.” She is “taking on diplomatic efforts.”

Interesting. She’s not stupid enough to have her name associated with this all-out illegal alien invasion.
... But it’s still the Biden-Harris administration.
I think she believes she is elite and entitled and may be getting tired of this absolute crapshow of an “Administration.” I’m sure she thought it would just be a matter of ordering people around, making speeches to adoring crowds, and enjoying a privileged luxe lifestyle, not playing second-fiddle to an old dude with advancing dementia.
She might well feel she’s been “done wrong” and quit.
