Deception in any war or battle is one of the greatest tools of any military commander.
One of the keys to Japan’s success in the Pearl Harbor attack was convincing the American government that they had not changed their strategy of a defensive posture, a very Sun Tzu tactic. When the Japanese did attack Pearl Harbor, the Japanese carriers arrived from the Northwest, while our forces were looking to the Southwest. When the newly operational radar station at Opana Point in Oahu detected a large group of planes arriving from the Northwest, an officer decided it was a squadron of B-17s due to arrive from San Francisco, 2,000 miles to the Northeast. A little geography knowledge would have served him well.
If I recall correctly, didn’t the Nazis think the Normandy invasion would happen somewhere else along the coast of France? Indeed, surprising the enemy is part of the success of military battles and campaigns.

The Chinese know that the Democrats only know how to fight Republicans.
Patton’s third army was used as a decoy to throw the Nazi’s off from the real invasion location.
Actually, the ChiComs know they can buy the Democrats. Often for a relative pittance. They’ve been able to buy them since at least the Clinton Administration.
The Nazis were most worried about Patton after seeing him operate in N. Africa and Italy.
So Ike held Patton back, and issued a lot of disinformation that Patton was going to attack elsewhere, and the Nazis had to hold a lot of troops back respecting that possibility.
Yes. They thought it was going to come at the Pas de Calais.
