When those two fought each other it was nothing but two warriors fighting each other until one dropped, no boxing just two men in the ring slugging it out....we got more action in those 3 rounds than most fights that go the distance...
Hagler was a Great during a period when there were many other Greats fighting at the Middle and Welterweight classes. I only saw him get outboxed one time by Sugar Ray Leonard. Even then, it was a close bout. Many even think Hagler won that one (though I disagree). He was the most well-rounded Middle weight I ever saw in the 80s...a frightening combination of skill, power, speed, and toughness.
His own family says this is a lie.

Hagler lost in a split decision where tie-breaking judge Jo Jo Guerra scored the fight an unreal 118-110 for Leonard. It's no wonder that boxing fans (Hagler fans) cried foul and fix.
Yea, I was a Hagler fan. I liked the slugger over the boxer; the no-nonsense fighter over the pretty-boy!
He died young by today's standards. His death is a reminder that our time here is short.

I will say this though...Hagler could box. He was not just a bull who always came forward into his opponents blows. There are several fights where he shows his superior skill against VERY DANGEROUS punchers like Thomas Hearns and John Mugabi. He was just as good on defense as he was on offense in those fights.
The Leonard Fight ended in a decision. I felt that fight was very close (and that Hagler had just barely lost).
