Metro Police have released body cam and dash footage of a deadly shootout Friday morning involving a Metro officer and a woman. Officer Josh Baker is recovering at a Nashville hospital and is in stable condition. The woman, 31-year-old woman Nika Holbert, has died.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the shooting took place in the parking lot at Dollar General on Brick Church Pike and Ewing Drive at about 9:30 this morning.
East Precinct Officer Josh Baker, a 14-year Metro police veteran and field training officer, was shot and is in stable condition after undergoing surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Metro police tweeted.
MNPD spokesperson Don Aaron said at a news conference after the shooting that Baker, a legacy officer whose father, Danny Baker, was a commander of the East Precinct at one time, stopped Nika Holbert, 31, after a plate check on the black Chevrolet Camaro she was driving showed its owner had six outstanding warrants for drug-related crimes.
MNPD released a video Friday night that contained video footage of the shooting, both from a body-worn camera and a dashcam.
After the shooting, Holbert drove away and crashed the car nearby. Officers rendered aid before paramedics arrived.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating the case.
So given the fact that the woman was black, we can expect some protests today, after George Floyd shooting every black victim from the police is closely monitored by BLM.
Will this shooting spark a new wave of protests?
I was a little surprised by that as well. That is life in a world full of unions. The upside is that she wasn’t going to run very far either.

Well, that is just plain sad. The officer did indeed perform a terrible stop. First and foremost, he should have done nothing but keep her behind the car until his backup arrived. Everything else he did do was the wrong thing to do at the time. That said though, this woman was obviously driving with a loaded hand gun in or near the passenger seat of her car.
No doubt this video can be used for training purposes, it is all wrong.
The problem is that the police have accepted those orders from a kneeling position.
Not every place, and not every officer. The left is creating an atmosphere where LEO (even the good ones) are forced for various reasons to operate under an ever increasing "Us vs Them" attitude. It leads to increased animosity on both sides. Conservatives/Patriots that make comments like above only push that dynamic further. I'm not saying don't call out LEO that have become agents of an oppressive state. THey need to be identified, isolated and dealt with. I'm asking that some care be made to not paint with such a wide brush, because it plays in to the Socialist/Globalist hands. We need to highlight departments and officer who are doing it right.
Full disclosure, my son is an LEO in a mid-sized (pop. 50K+) Midwestern city. Even though the city council is loaded with your typical lefty politicians, his department is very conservative, as is he. Officers were informed by the chief that they would be canned if they violated anyone's civil rights under the Constitution. Also, I 100% support our county Sheriff, who is a rock ribbed conservative, very pro-Constitution. Unofficially, I heard he was a supporter of militias. He could not support them with the department, though, due to legal liability reasons.

The thing that triggered these riots was the MSM reporting of the Floyd demise and spiking the facts behind his condition at the time. Because of that getting those facts out are desperately needed

The democrat controlled media racist killing reporting was a deliberate miss portraying of the six foot seven inch 200 plus pound Floyd as an innocent black who was being forceably restrained because he was black not because he was resisting arrest.When He was legitimately arrested for passing a counterfeit $20 dollar bill he was resisting arrest and was a threat if not secured. But the media was not mentioning his size or reporting that Floyd was removed from a squad car because he was acting up under the influence of drugs and also later was discovered to have COVID 19. Which suggests his physical condition may have led to his death which the media turned into a murder change and a charge of serious abuse by police because of police efforts that were tried to get him who under control. The results of politically induced miss reporting incidents where blacks have resisted legitimate arrest began to be used earlier during and after the post Zimmmerman trial, then on to the Ferguson episode. Obama’s abuse of the “Bully Pulpit” which seemed to promote resistance to legitimate arrest led to black gangs attacking non blacks found innocently traversing black neighborhoods and to a score of murders or life changing injuries and later attacks of theft and vandalism on local businesses as well as attacks and murders of police officers during that period

I’ve never been in law enforcement, but the laxity of that stop and the officer’s inability to control the situation and maintain his own safety is just shocking. Letting her rummage around in her vehicle, pull out her cigarettes, smoke a cigarette, talk on her phone while he is inspecting her bag is insane.

The whole situation is emblematic of black ghetto culture disdaining any respect for authority, especially law officers, and most especially white law officers.

Officers are getting killed because they have to hesitate before shooting a black person, fearful that they may trigger a riot.
Well said. Too many people on here trash the cops due to one bad interaction, or just plain anti-cop animus. While I recognize that police are an arm of the State and must be held accountable, just pissing on them isn’t that way to go and it does feed into the Communist’s strategy.

She had a gun and shot the cop. He then opened fire on her. Any rational human would say that the cop did nothing wrong, and shot her to defend himself, and that the woman deserved what she got.
None of this will matter. If this is the “White shoots black” event of 2021 that the left is looking for, they will tell the media to blow it up all out of proportion and that the riots can begin. Then they’ll have their summer of cities in flames which they will use to segway into reparations.
If I was a cop before, I would not be one now.

As noted above, officer grossly obese (to the extent he should not be allowed to wear the uniform) and conspicuously failing to enforce proper procedures to secure the suspect and her vehicle.
She should never have been allowed to reenter her vehicle and she should have been in handcuffs as soon as drugs were found.
As a result of her violent attack on the officer, she’s dead, and he’s guilty of gross negligence for allowing her to retrieve her gun.
