“Just quit sinning.” Sure, sounds simple. But HOW!? Most sin is compulsive behavior, meaning you’re not in control of yourself. What’s worked for me to break out of that habitual, hypnotic trance is self awareness. Can you see yourself when you do that? Can you see how cringy and embarrassing this is? Once you’ve suffered enough, you’ll begin to reclaim your noble self and this sin will be so far beneath you you won’t be capable of going back.

2 Chr. 7:14  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 

Don't count on this as applying to America or Christians. A careful study will show you that God's promise here is to Isra-El, the only descendants of Jacob to whom He hes given His Name, and the land spoken of has the same name, also given to their ancestor Abraham for their occupancy.

To assume that this verse applies to America or to its occupants is not a viable application, no matter what enthusiastic but ignorant religious people would like to believe.

Followers of Jesus were first identified as "Christians" by their neighbors in Antioch of Syria, not by The God. And the home of true Christians is God's Heaven, a country of which they are ambassadors, not Israel, or even this world. Christians already have a better promise than the one above; that of everlasting life in God's Presence.
