Sorry, Vanity Fair. We know you want to get eyeballs on your site but publishing a completely fake news headline is not the way to go.

Trump’s being a private citizen has nothing to do with it. Anyone who is famous and in the public eye has a nearly impossible task to win a defamation suit. The statement has to be false, you have to prove the writer knew it was false, and you have to prove that the writer wrote the piece with the deliberate purpose of wanting to harm you.
It is why the tabloids can write whatever they want about celebrities and not worry about being successfully sued.
But, but, I thought former President Trump was too old and fat to do something as strenuous as beat someone to death. It must be hard being a leftist and having to keep your story straight.

The only time I’ve ever heard about Trump getting anywhere close to violence was that story that he jumped out of his limo to stop a mugging... and even that may well have just been a PR stunt by the Donald, the master of self-promotion.
