U.S. border agents detained nearly 100,000 migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border in February, according to two people familiar with preliminary figures, the highest monthly total since a major border surge in mid-2019.
The monthly number of attempted illegal border crossings increased 28 percent in February, the first full month of the Biden administration, according to the senior official currently performing the duties of Customs and Border Protection commissioner.
Troy Miller told reporters Wednesday that CBP had 100,441 encounters with migrants crossing the border in February, up from 78,442 in January. According to a CBP official, about 75,000 of the February migrants were encountered just once, while the other 25,000 attempted crossings were by individuals who had been encountered more than once during the same month.
Miller said that 9,457 of the migrants making illegal crossings were unaccompanied children, a group the administration has struggled to accommodate.
Some migrants are trying to evade border agents, others are mostly Central American families or young children traveling without parents who turn themselves into officials, often to seek asylum.
Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley sector, which spans more than 34,000 square miles (88,000 square kilometers)along the border in southeast Texas, have recently encountered immigrants wearing the bracelets during several apprehensions, said Matthew Dyman a spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

They also fail to address the ongoing crisis on the border.

They will all eventually become citizens or permanent residents. They can hang out in a sanctuary and wait for a low-bar amnesty, or do the usual things like join the military or marry a citizen. They will immediately start using medical and education resources, and will learn to play the welfare game like maestros.

In that zone of Texas, the river is so polluted from the Mexican side that you don’t wanna swim there. Border Patrol tactical team people in that area are basically medevacked if they wind up in the water. Eye’s rinsed, showered, a shot of Gama globulin, and an antibotic.
At least it was that way about 20 years ago down in the Laredo zone... fecalized water.
Remember, during obamy’s crossings, the kids wore shoes with his picture on them.
