Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft today announced he will not be seeking to fill the open US Senate seat vacated by Senator Roy Blunt. This comes as President Donald Trump’s allies have coalesced around former Missouri Governor Eric Greitens, urging him to run.

...

Eric Greitens has appeared on Missouri radio, Newsmax, Steve Bannon’s War Room, and Seb Gorka’s radio show in the last 48 hours, and said that he is motivated by the tremendous support from grassroots voters across the state of Missouri.

“He has the added benefit of be attacked by the left with law suits that got dropped.”

He got run out of office by the same St. Louis prosecutor who is now trying to put the McCloskeys in prison for daring to stand outside of their home with weapons when their private, gated neighborhood was broken into by ‘mostly peaceful’ protestors (none of whom where charged).

The prosecutor claimed that Greitens took a photo of his tied up hairdresser. Trouble was the photo has never been produced and likely doesn’t exist. The case was finally dropped after Greitens was charged with violating campaign laws and he resigned office.

There has been an investigation of the prosecutor (who won re-election) but she claims any investigation of her conduct is racist.

Trouble with Greitens running is the dems will turn his candidacy into a referendum on racists picking on a courageous black woman prosecutor. I’d vote for him over any dem, but I hope the Republicans can field a candidate without Greitens’s baggage.

Well we all know how good Trump is at picking good people. Sessions, Barr, two of his SC judges, John Kelly, Gen McMaster, Reibus, Pence and on and on. His female press secs were great.

In his defense, 1 in 1,000 people involved in politics is a good person it seems.

Having heard Greitens on Bannon’s war room, I am impressed. He understands the issues, he’s not a neocon and he understands worldview. Unless he’s faking it, he sounds great to me.

I think we should try to get over the set up which was used to take him out. He will have learned. Hopefully.

How many people here voted for W despite his “youthful” habits? The establishment will rally around to conceal their crap, while highlighting the mistakes of conservatives and constitutionalists.

W could have been more forthcoming. Remember he was 5 points ahead that Thursday b4 the election. Did he forget or did he think his enemies wouldn’t find out long beforehand? He could have spared us the 37 day recount. Totally unnecessary.

Did you vote for Donald Trump?

Yes. Greitens is a whole different level. His vibes are total fake. Every time I watch him I sense he is just a slick talking political hack. By his having an affair and cheating on his young wife he just proved what I felt inside whenever I watched him on the campaign trail. I did not vote for Greitens in the primary but held my nose to vote for him in the general. I will not vote for him in a primary election.

5 days before the 200 Democrat convention Al Gore’s kid was caught driving 95mph to the airport. It was kept quiet. We have to know what we’re up against and learn how to not be stupid. Greitens should run for a house seat if he wants back into the game.

He sounds great. But, whenever someone ‘sounds great,’ I can’t help but remember Jeff Flake, Marco Rubio and Pat Toomey were all Tea Party darlings.

Does he have any kind of executive or legislative record to run on?

Easy street? Really? That’s what you believe that being governor is all about? So you’re satisfied with limp wristed figure heads? I see...

You beat me to it. He reconciled with his wife and family prior to his infidelity being made public and was driven out of office by the DemonRats; funded by the DNC and executed by their local minions. He’s a patriot, a veteran, a fighter and is great presidential material. Hawley and Greitens from Missouri along with Dan Crenshaw and others could provide the seed-bed for coalescing the GOP into fighters like our beloved president Trump as opposed to the pathetic, milquetoast wimps that make up most of the GOP in both houses.

I remember Rubio touted as a “Tea Party Darling” but not Flake & Toomey.

Flake & Toomey have always been at their best “get along go along” GOP’ers ! Usually they were obstructionists to anything conservatgive.

The excuse for Toomey was in Pa that’s the best you can get.

Yeah, they were both Tea Party favs along with Rubio. And/But, Rubio and Flake ended up NOT joining the Tea Party caucus, a caucus that quickly fizzled after that election cycle.

It's amazing to read the negative comments by those who claimed they voted for President Trump. They claim there is no similarity but every reason they give for 'hating' Greitens, is virtually a repeat of what was said about DJT before he was elected and for the 4 years after. And for the same reasons.

Greitens was (and still is) a threat.

He’s a fighter.

Didn't fight very hard to keep the governor's office.

An outsider; a fighter against corruption. While in office, he upset the apple cart for our Missouri swamp rats which is why he was set up.

Set up? Really? So we can add whining to his list of attributes?

Total opportunist, I wouldn't trust him.

Six years ago he was a Democrat. That should tell you all you need to know about his opportunism.
