That’s awesome. I may be appropriating that for a presentation at work. Thank you.
Load up on tea and start a new Boston Tea Party.
Matcha is a tea. It is made from leaves. Powdered leaves but still leaves.
Everything else listed is not tea.
Instant tea is originally made from leaves but they are too processed to make it actually tea.
I have spoken.
So let it be written, so let it be done.
NEVER boil tea.
The water should be just off the boil but the tea its self should not be boiled.
What kind of barbarian boils innocent tea?
I find that two aspirin and a cup of hot tea, double strength, help with shingles pain. In addition to caffeine, tea contains theanine, which has a calming effect on the nervous system. Nevertheless, for some people, these compounds may have a contrary, so-called paradoxical effect.
“Our US habit of boiling water with bags left in the pot is ruinous for traditional tea.”
People do this, really? I honestly have never heard of anyone in my life doing this. The way I saw my mother and grandmother, aunts, and everyone else do it was to bring the water to a boil, remove from heat, then add the tea bags or pour over the teabags and steep to whatever strength was desired.
Peach
I don’t drink Tea because it tastes like Tea.
try decaf tea ! I love tea but caffeine is not my friend.
Had never seen the word “tisane” before. Sounds like the term herb “tea” is a complete misuse of the word tea.
I HAVE BEEN A RABID TEA ENTHUSIAST FOR DECADES. I’M IN MY 70’S. TISANES ARE QUITE COMMON.
REGARDLESS, ENJOY WHATEVER YOU DRINK. I DOD NIT MEAN TO DISPARAGE.
Oh, I use several tisanes, but somehow I’d never encountered that word until today and I’ve read quite a bit about herbs over the years.

If I had to walk to a train just to go to high school I might be pi**ed off too. Don’t think tea is the problem here...
Check fine print on package It’s Not Tea maybe.
I wonder about the tannin, too.
I haven’t done systematic trials among different teas. Maybe, I should.
“insufficient data for meaningful answer.”
I have tried teas (pekoes?) from Lipton, Red Rose, Tetley, Twinings, Bigelow. Irish breakfast. English breakfast. I wasted money on a box of Irish breakfast tea around St. Patrick’s day, one year. It seemed especially troublesome.
No cream or sugar since I was in my 40’s. I’m in my 70’s.
Over the years ... One (6oz?) cup, maybe two, per day. (or none).
I just realized, now, that when I ordered that iced tea at the pizzeria a few years ago, I had already had enough negative experiences to suspect it might be a bad idea. But I figured that it might be okay, because I was at a pleasant meal with pleasant people.
Coffee is not a problem, which adds to the confusion.
I have tried herbal teas, but they do not satisfy me.
After a 3 years’ “fast” from drinking tea, I have recently tolerated having a weak cup on a few occasions.
Tea intolerance is not a “life and death” issue, of course.
But I can’t help wondering if anyone else’s life is, unknowingly, being bent out of whack by tea.
I liked the article you linked to. Thank you.
