I'm pretty sure the tax returns information leaked from the DA's office and the author of the MSNBC article was privy to it. Thus this downbeat (from her POV) story preparing her liberal readers for disappointment.

BTW, this also reminds me of several stories warning liberals to prepare for Mueller report disappointment weeks before the report was released (and which was probably leaked).

The fake news liars and the attack dog Democrats will not be able to understand what is in Trump’s tax return. To them it will all look like a bunch of legaleze gobbledegook. I would be willing to bet money that Trump’s tax returns were audited every year, given his personality, Trump probably fought the IRS every step of the way, ultimately the IRS approved the returns....

Unless someone can prove Trump didn’t report some type of income, then his returns are all legit considering their scrutiny by the IRS and their approval.

It was always prone to be problematic for the hyena media. Trump does not, of course, do his own tax returns, and the people who do (Mazars International has been subpoenaed as well as at least two of Trump's banks), tend to get downright cranky about allegations of tax fraud with their names on it. And they have more, and much better, tax attorneys than SDNY (or MSNBC and CNN) and they do have standing, and they can show damages, loss of only a single account potentially in the millions. And throwing their client to the wolves would be even more damaging.

So the wild hyperbole that has typified this ridiculous witch hunt now will come with a cost. The spittle throwers don't care, but they aren't the ones who are going to have to foot the bill.

I predicted this long ago.

When Trump was campaigning, the new york slimes sent 20 people out to dig up anything negative they could use to trash Trump’s reputation.

I noticed two distinct items they did not come up with.

1. Crooked business deals. Not even enough to hint at one. This was the main thing they wanted. Hit him with “he’s a crook” all over their front page, he’s toast. Never happened.

2. Not one disgruntled employee with a horror story about what a bastard he is to work for. Couldn’t even find someone fired for good reason with a flimsy story. That might leave a mark too, but they never found a thing.

And the idiots in DC think his tax returns will show something the nyt couldn’t find with 20 people scouring his past??? As others have pointed out, the IRS has been through them with a fine tooth comb for years, and would have certainly leaked any bad news long ago. Like 5 years ago, while he was still a civilian.
