Anew piece in the Wall Street Journal by CTUP’s Stephen Moore and Casey Mulligan reports that the “stimulus” bill will reduce employment by between 6 and 8 million jobs because it pays people not to work.
The new bill will create one of the largest expansions in government welfare benefits since LBJ launched the failed War on Poverty (poverty won). The bill includes six months of weekly $400 bonus unemployment benefits on top of the normal weekly benefits, a $3,000 per-child tax credit, an expansion of food-stamp and rental-assistance benefits, $2,000 per person checks, and expanded health-care benefits.
A family of four with two unemployed parents will be eligible for benefits ranging from $100,000 to $150,000 (with no payroll tax) in benefits on an annualized basis. In other words, the stimulus pays most unemployed people more money not to work than to go back on the job.

Yup.
“Work is for suckers.”
This is wrong.
Why would any sane person work?
If somebody doesn’t stop him, the dollar will become like some kind of third-world currency - the money supply is so inflated, the dollar becomes worthLESS.
Bump
That velvet lined couch isn’t a bed, it’s a coffin.
There will come a point where the workers/producers in society may say, “F..k this” and start a rebellion.
But the American sheeple have been so cowed into submission (Covid scamdemic) that that point may be a long way off.
I am 67, with an adult disabled child (fighting for disability). I am 5’1”, 120 lbs, landscaping (manual labor). I have not asked anything of the government except disability for my grown child.
This angers me beyond belief.
And they wonder why Bitcoin is going through the roof.
The hallmark of a commie-led economy: eliminate all incentives for anyone to work harder for bigger rewards. Why should I bust my hump, comrade, when comrade Ygenvy makes more money than I do and he doesn’t even have to do any work?
Tax on robots will pay for this.
Biden and the Democrats want to turn America into Germany’s 1920’s hyperinflation laced Weimar Republic. That’s where we are headed.

“Why would any sane person work?”
Work can be fun, and give a person a feeling of pride and accomplishment. I’d much rather be working than posting here, but I got laid off 6 months ago.
The accelerating pace of automation will make it more difficult for lots of people to work. I think it is time to reconsider Milton Friedman’s 1962 guaranteed income proposal. Not that I personally need the money. Financially I’m doing well, but I miss working.
Have you considered looking for respite caregivers?
People who would come in a few times a week or a month to give the principal caregiver (you) a break here and there.
You should definitely be qualified to have people referred to you. Your adult child is blessed to have you caring for them, but you may want to seek assistance for yourself too.
Good luck to you and your loved one.
I have worked with disabled adults on and off for years, so I know one needs time to at very least, just clear your mind for a few hours. That is healthy ‘separation time’ needed to maintain your own spirit.
Why is the term “Gardening” one of the Key Words?
Just wondering. Maybe Dr.Jill is growing a spring garden of
Crocus, Hyacinth and Buttercups.
Yes she’s fertilizing with the output of those two German Shepherds.
If I were the opposition one way I would counter this as extremely unhealthy.
She is not a medical doctor.
