Numerous parents have called on a La Mesa-Spring Valley school board member to step down after she made comments about racism, white supremacy, and compared a mandated return to school to slavery.

Check that off your notes of the most ridiculous things people have said this year and it's only February.

The school board member took a lot of criticism after this video was posted, even calls for her to step down. It's one thing to listen to the science, but there's literally no reason to be comparing a return to school to slavery and telling people they need to check their privilege.

This is correct, forcing public schooling is akin to slavery. Let the parents decide what education their children should have. Of course, she is likening to slavery for the teachers, who now must do the jobs they were hired to do, just like the rest of us.

Our local public schools have been open since August. Of course Missouri was a slave state, so I guess that’s to be expected. Actually doing the job you’re being paid to do is exactly like slavery. I remember hearing the same argument when it was suggested that welfare recipients should actually have to do some work to get their benefits.
