It is with profound sadness and eternal gratitude that I note the passing of Rush Limbaugh today. A truly great American in all senses of that designation, a brilliant radio artist and the de facto leader of true conservatism in the United States for 30 years, he was truly one of a kind.
Rush’s wife, Kathryn, opened his radio program today with a heartfelt statement to his 25 million+ listeners. I won’t deny shedding a tear or two as I listened to it and tried to take in the impact his loss will have. Talk radio as it has existed for the last generation existed because of Rush. His influence in the country is unrivaled in the history of the media; not just of radio, but of all media in this country’s history. No other single figure even comes close.

With his passing, there is no obvious replacement, no conservative pundit capable of taking up the torch and keeping the fires of conservatism burning. With no true national voice to guide the way, the loss of this great American will be every bit as impactful as the loss of Donald Trump and his presidency.
God Bless Rush Limbaugh for all he has done for us, God Bless his family and God Bless America.
That, sadly, is all.
I started listening to Rush in 1985 when his
KFBK show in Sacramento was it. What you state
was just as true then as it has been throughout
his talkshow career. Yes, no doubt Limbaugh did
convert many people. But his original personna
mainly sustained and confirmed what we conservatives
always believed anyway. To learn that so many
others were in step with each other was a gift
from Rush.
I’m a Rush listener since 1985 when his show
was only in Sacramento. If you knew Rush that long
you knew that his “....on loan from God” comment
was applicable to all of us in his mind. But
your words I take to heart.
The thing is we choose to love the love the
DU hate.
I know that my Mom and my Dad and my older sister were there in the crowd to greet him.
I think I’m going to mist up whenever I hear the opening bars of The Pretender’s “My City Was Gone” in the future.
>>We owe him so much for being a conservative warrior for so long.<<
We do, and what we can do to repay him is continue the fight. To fight even harder and never give up, never cede an inch. That is what he would want.
He was the only source of real news in this country.
Rush’s wife had a very difficult job today coming on the radio, but she did it very well.
May you rest in peace Rush.
I’m devestated. What a terrible loss for the world.

...There was a group back in the 1990s — and they still exist.
There was a group in the 1990s that were malcontents, renegades, and off the mainstream plantation of conservatism as articulated by the party.
Those were the people that were the early participants in the website Free Republic.
They were known as Freepers. - Rush Limbaugh, July 3, 2013
Thank you
Rush was great. Didn’t always agree with him, but he was always worth listening to.
“What are the chances the flag will be flown at half staff?”
Nil and absolutely not. The commies have taken over our government.
My wife has cried all afternoon. She tuned in working from home and heard his wife and started bawling. When we met she was fresh out of college in 1992 and was a moderate even though her family were staunch conservatives and she was raised that way, but college being what it is-indoctrination centers even in the 90’s they sow confusion and doubt... She was considering voting for Paul Tsongas and I would debate the reasons not too and one day we were both off and on a road trip and I introduced her to Rush on the radio on that trip.
She was listening and going yes I like this guy! Then Rush would go to another topic and she was say yeah I believe that, He’s saying a lot of what I believe. And then he happened to talk about Paul Tax on Gas and eviscerated him with humor and logic and she was from that point back in the conservative fold for good.
She has been a loyal Rush listener since and back in 2008 was railing against the GOPE before most and had decided she was having no part of McCain, quote “he’s a backstabbing douche bag, I’ll have nothing to do with this SOB!” Then Rush and Palin on the ticket turned the tide even though she detests the name McCain the way God hates sin. Me, her Dad and Rush pulled her back to the light, Rush you are the man!
Now it seems that the middle is gone from the Leftist point of view. You are either all on their side or all the other. Or they will "cancel" you.
My wife refused to listen to Rush until about 4 years ago. Once she got in the habit, she listened every day.
We just lost her mother over the weekend to covid and then this.
Sorry to hear about your loss, deepest sympathies.
I went college in the 80’s and fortunately fell in with a gang of guys who were as conservative as I was. My Dad was a Goldwater conservative before Goldwater. This group I took classes with enjoyed needing instructors for their attempts at indoctrination. We were lucky they didn’t retaliate on our grades.
We were in a history of central and South America class one day with a lib instructor and we’re going to be discussing Mexico. We talked before class and decided to have some fun with it and he talked about the Mexican-American war and one of us pipped up and said we screwed up in that war and the instructor was all smiles, I’ve done it to another class and then another guy in the group said yeah we screwed up giving Mexico back to the Mexicans, should have kept it. I thought the instructor was going to stroke out. At that point I said we could have have 65-75 more states and Mexico wouldn’t be a third world disaster. The instructors mouth fell open and he was just babbling at us trying to respond, it was hilarious.
Funny story and I agree with the premise 100% that Mexico would have been much better off if we had simply invaded them and eventually turned them into U.S. states. Even more convenient, I wouldn’t need a passport to go to Acapulco for vacation.
Thank you.
