House Democrats on the Education and Labor Committee voted to approve a $15 minimum wage proposal as part of the coronavirus relief package, despite warnings from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) that it would put 1.4 million Americans out of work.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) celebrated the passage of a proposal to more than double the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $15 per hour by the year 2025.
“It’s a wrap,” she tweeted. “$15 #MinimumWage passes the [Education and Labor] committee after more than 13 hours of debate.”
CNBC reports that it is unclear if the minimum wage provision would survive inclusion in the final $1.9 trillion aid package due to strict Senate rules.

In Pennsylvania the minimum wage is $7.25/hr. If the minimum wage goes up to $15/hr I want a $7.75 pay raise.
The $15 an hour minimum wage horse has already left the barn. It’s going to happen state by state if not the federal level. Florida will go up a dollar a year increase and have $15 an hour in 2026.

Minimum wage is used to index union wages. They have to get back in the union’s good graces.
Wage and price controls have a disastrous history...
It will kill more than 1.4 million jobs. The CBO did not really factor in the incentive this will give towards automation, which can be financed over many years delivering bottom line profits to small businesses. $15/hr * 8 hrs * 6 days = $720 a week, per person, per shift, plus employer share of payroll taxes and workers compensation insurance which in my state is a factor of the wages paid so doubling of wages will double the cost of WC insurance. Rough math, $4000 a month per employee per shift. Who wouldn’t finance burger flipping machines or self-service kiosks or more expensive equipment?
This would result in large numbers of Americans being fired in numbers making last year’s Covid situation pale in comparison. Offshoring like never before and/or turning most people in America into contractors......with no employer based healthcare.
I got an email from a Recruiting firm that has lots of temp employees they “rent” to their customer/client companies and I could read between the lines in a survey they were asking questions about that they were gleeful over the prospects of a $15/hour wage because they know huge numbers of jobs would be farmed out to contractors like them.
What a convenient way to throw huge numbers of Americans by default onto Obamacare which worthless scum of the earth treasonous RINO’s failed to get rid of when they had the chance.
Big corporations hate competition from small businesses, which is why they want them destroyed.
Communism requires long-term unemployment to guarantee communist long-term rule...
What is much more damaging is how many employers would upgrade their workers - they’ll be thinking why should I have these dumb ugly guys waiting on my customers, when I could have cute girls with college degrees?
Democrats re going to raise the minimum wage, that is a given. We should look realistically at the pros and cons. I don't think it is worth fighting the losing side of increased minimum wage.
I think a better approach will be to de-politicize this by setting up an automatic indexing or something to manage minimum wage over time.
Plus, lets add more value to this by tying it to full 100% implementation of e-Verify for existing and future workers. Let's make sure that only Americans benefit from these wages. This will also mean more competition for American workers, raising wages anyway. A good thing all around.
Here is a state by state minimum wage schedule in effect at this time.
Lots of increases are going to happen as this law becomes effective.
Not sure what the impact will be on the USA.
Lots of states are well below that minimum that is being established.

LET’S BRING BACK THE 5 CENT CANDY BAR
When politicians particularly members of today’s in name only democrat party started pushing for a higher minimum wage. The focus should have been on purchasing power of the lowest coin of the realm. Each time it was passed the price of an item like an individual candy bar and everything else increased. What began at 5 cents in the 1940’s was when the minnimum wage was 50 cents an hour . As the rate steadily increased so did candy bar prices to what it is today. The result has always been since it began devaluing the purchasing power of the dollar.
Since “there is no right answer in a math problem”....
.... what difference does it make if it’s $7 or $15 per hour???
Minimum wage is a sop to unions whose pay scale is based on the MW as a starting point - the more the MW goes up, the more unionistas are paid.
1 of ping.
As many will soon find out, the minimum wage can be $0.00.
