The GOPe senators have said he CANNOT represent Trump as a sitting Congressman.

Gaetz says he’ll resign, it’s a higher priority than keeping his seat.

He says he’s never lost a trial case, and he won’t start in the Senate.

Where did they get this argument? Is it in the Constitution?

Why not? They are literally just making this up as they go along to squelch any hint of dissent.

Yet sitting congress critters can be on the prosecution team? They make these rules up as they go.

The Senate will not allow Gaetz (nor Trump) to take over the Senate floor and try to tell them things they don’t want to hear. They would be immediately gaveled down and removed.

Whatever the Senate impeachment trial turns into, it will not feature a serious discussion of 2020 election fraud.

It is sad how many question courage. America is being flushed down the fascist drain, a man stands against the evil, and he is questioned as if he is foolish. That is disgusting and all to telling of the give-up mindset the media manipulations have accomplished.

How can Adam Schiff (D) replace Justice Roberts to oversee the case?

This is batcrazy malarkey.

But Leahy can be the Judge and get a vote on impeachment? He’s a sitting Senator too.

He’s kind of young, how many trial cases has he had? I’d rather he remain in congress, because the state media will just edit out all the unapproved parts of the proceedings including his contributions in their Stalinist show trial.

You're a very smart guy.

Why don't you believe conviction is CERTAIN if Trump uses an election fraud defense?

His lawyers' responses to the impeachment are concise, correct, and allow an appeal over the Bill of Attainder issue.

Unless you don't care if Trump is convicted, what possible good can come of allowing an election fraud defense?

This is not a "trial", of course, and whatever it is we are pretty sure of the outcome, so Gaetz has a lot to gain and his reputation is not much at risk.

The matter is before a "court" which has no authority or personal jurisdiction, presided over by a "judge" who is a political hack of the bogus "prosecutor". That hack will manage the contest exactly as the anti-MAGA's direct; including, no doubt, many findings that Gaetz is out of order.

Even with a supposed "conviction", it is hard to believe the results of this hearing would disqualify a citizen from running as a presidential candidate unless, of course, the USSC is effectively expanded by Biden-Harris.

The GOPe senators have said he CANNOT represent Trump as a sitting Congressman.

Hard to believe this when the same senators haven’t voiced disapproval for Sen Leahy being the judge.

How many trials was that? What was his role in them? He graduated law school in 2007 and became a Florida state congressman in 2010.

Well, what cases has he tried? I've searched, and I can't find much of anything about his career as a lawyer other than he was an associate at a now-defunct firm in Fort Walton, FL. No high-profile verdicts or appellate cases that I can find. He had only been out of law school for 3 years when he joined the Florida House, and less than 10 before joining Congress.

Trump already has real lawyers defending him. He has no need of Gaetz. Of course, if Gaetz is silly enough to resign his seat for no reason, maybe his safe Republican district could use a representative with better judgment.
