It is sad how many question courage. America is being flushed down the fascist drain, a man stands against the evil, and he is questioned as if he is foolish. That is disgusting and all to telling of the give-up mindset the media manipulations have accomplished.
Last I heard from him he was droning on about people in a wagon, who should be out of the wagon in order to push new people in the wagon. I think it was a red wagon.
On the one hand it’s a really dumb move, but on the other hand the R/D split in government in absolutely meaningless in modern times. So, whatever.
I assume the governor can re-appoint him after the trial.
Could have fooled me, both of your Senators are Bush League Republicans.
He’s one of 435 in Congress, where the GOP is in the minority.
If he succeeds in the Senate trial, he’ll beat Rubio and be the next new Senator from Florida.

No No No. I can’t believe Trump would want that. His written response to Congress is so good about it not being a legitimate trial, that he should send no one to represent him. Roberts won’t show and Trump’s side should not either.

If the elderly pro-Communist “Leaky Leahy” tries to gavel down Matt Gaetz over presenting evidence, it will be a HUUUGE television / perception victory for Trump.
This will absolutely backfire against the Rats if they try to gavel and shout down Trump’s defense.
Gaetz said that he would resign. Bannon told him he should call Trump immediately. I hope Trump accepts his offer. Desantis would reappoint him back to his seat.

Trump’s current attorneys are like the stuttering no-eye-contact public defender in that movie.
Gaetz is Joe Pesci on steroids.
If I were Trump’s attorney, my opening statement would be this:
“I represent President Donald J. Trump. President Trump won the 2020 election in a landslide. He is the President of the United States. I must object that the Chief Justice is not presiding over this trial. According to Article I, Sec. 3, paragraph 6 the Chief Justice of the United States must preside. Why is the Chief Justice not present today?”
I’d bait Leahy to try to shut down this argument. I would argue that the events on Jan. 6th were the result of a “mostly peaceful” protest against the most blatant election fraud in U.S. history. I would further note that because of that rampant fraud, several Senators weren’t elected legitimately because of vote flipping or rigged primaries to ensure the most radical candidate was nominiated to oppose a sitting senator. This is all political, so I’d throw politcal bombs at the senate.
Also note, the problem with the argument that Trump isn’t president, is that there are still cases in the courts and SCOTUS arguing that he is. That argument can be made in briefs just to CYA, but the Senate already voted on the issue and there aren’t 67 Senators to convict. The attorney has a free pass to grandstand and deliver political attacks on the opposition. It shouldn’t be wasted. Trump’s lawyers must make the argument for the ages to remember.
I am moving out of NYS and can’t wait. Was thinking South Carolina or North Carolina and last month decided Florida is where I want to go! Have my only living relative there! So why not. Getting my house prepared for selling this spring! Can’t wait to leave NYS.
Matt Gaetz has been one of Trump’s staunchest, most articulate defenders.
He might also be playing the long game here and positioning himself as one of the heirs to MAGA.
