No No No. I can’t believe Trump would want that. His written response to Congress is so good about it not being a legitimate trial, that he should send no one to represent him. Roberts won’t show and Trump’s side should not either.

That narrow “non constitutional defense” means the entire tsunami of Democrat attacks against Trump as causing a deadly insurrection will go unanswered. The Rat case is that Trump told a “big lie” over and over about election fraud, but that he had no proof, etc.
Even if Trump is acquitted, the slur against him (and us!) over “there was no election fraud” will stand forever as the final history.
The best defense is a good offense, not a timid, “Please don’t hit me any more, it’s not fair, it’s not constitutional” defense.
