Palm Beach May Oust Trump from Mar-a-Lago

The town of Palm Beach, Florida, is reviewing legal documents after former President Donald Trump decided to make Mar-a-Lago – his private club – his permanent residence.

When Trump converted the private residence into a club in 1993, he allegedly came to an agreement with the town about residency restrictions. According to The Hill, some of the conditions of the agreement are that club members, including the former president himself, could only spend a maximum of seven consecutive days and no more than three weeks a year at the property. The number of members are also capped at 500 and there are parking restrictions as well.

He either signed the document or he didn’t. If he did, then he needs to abide by the terms or come up with another agreement.

I know a guy who owned a golf course and built an addition on the clubhouse with a very nice apartment upstairs for the sole purpose of being able to homestead the property for tax purposes.

Perhaps the deposed President could put this coup that ousted him to good use. Imagine him touring the country in a fancy bus lobbying for a Convention of States. Imagine Trump himself presiding over the Convention once called. Trump could literally become the second father of this nation . His fame would eclipse even the achievement of George Washington himself who headed up the first Convention.

George Washington did not have to save the country from itself. He just had to beat the best Army in the World at the time. The army Trump faces belongs to China and all the other evil nations that cannot live with America even existing.

OK. He should cut off a piece of land from the club and establish his presidential library there. Just as Clinton did, put a penthouse on top and live there. The locals can’t do anything about it since that would be a protected place.

Trump Org says there is no document.

If there was a covenant or deed restriction, that should be easy to find.

My hunch is that this is one of those things someone heard once upon a time, and now they are trying to get their 15 minutes of fame.

The longer the headline runs, the more fake the news item.

We don't know what the agreement said. We're being fed pieces. I'm sure there were plenty of hoops he had to jump through as to number of units, parking and the agreement not to turn those units into condos.

This is just more harrassment.

“Alleged signatures do not hold up in court.”

They can’t throw him out as the article seems to be leading the readers to believe. The breaking or “breach” of a contract can result in one party’s being sued by the other to enforce the contract. You may elect to compel the other party to fill the promise called for by the contract, or to pay money instead of providing the goods or service. If you want to enforce a written contract, you usually are required by law to file the lawsuit within five years of the date the written contract was breached, or four years if it is an oral contract. However, the deadline for filing a lawsuit to enforce a contract may be as little as one year after the agreement was breached. If you do not sue before the deadline, you will not be permitted to sue later.

Trump purchased the property in 1985 from the Post Foundation and used the estate as a private residence until 1995. In April of 1995, Mar-a-Lago became established as The Mar-a-Lago Club. The locals missed the deadline for action by well over 20 years. Just another cheap shot.

If that’s the deal he made back when he bought the property he should be bound by it. It would be no different than covenants and restrictions in a homeowner association community.

Palm Beach - “Average Household Income $314,090.00”

These people don’t care about jobs (or taxes) and they don’t want tourism..

I’m surprised, as I thought Florida was exceptionally pro-Trump. This poor man is handed a plate of excrement every time he turns around.

Palm Beach is as limousine-liberal as it gets.
