Senate Democrat leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Friday evening announced the impeachment trial for Trump will begin the week of February 8th.

.... Snip....

The swamp knows that Trump won the 2020 election and still has a solid base of tens of millions of supporters so they are working to bar Trump from ever running for office.

The House voted 232-197 to impeach Trump last week – 10 Republican traitors joined the Democrats and voted in favor of impeachment.

Speaker Pelosi will send the articles of impeachment to the senate on Monday.

Pelosi and the Democrats have accused Trump of “inciting an insurrection”

...... Snip.....

According to reports, McConnell privately says he wants Trump gone – the DC elites are pressuring Republicans to impeach private citizen Trump.

According to the Constitution (not that it matters), impeachment is the process for removing a person from office. Since DJT is no longer in office, the impeachment trial should be moot, and in the normal course of proceedings, CJ John Roberts, as the presiding justice over the impeachment trial, should dismiss the impeachment. But since we are no loner living in a normal world, I expect C (”compromised”) Justice Roberts to deny Trump’s challenge for lack of standing.

Quote it. Where in Article I section 4 does the U.S. Senate have the authority to put a private citizen on trial?

“The Senate SHALL have the power to try all impeachments”

Donald Trump is impeached. The impeachment must be resolved, and only the Senate can do so. A decent Senate could resolve it with a dismissal, which would be honorable and proper.

But this Parliament of Whores? That’s not likely.

So, they must resolve it by a trial.

And how does a private citizen get impeached?

"The impeachment must be resolved,"

It's "resolved" by being declared moot.

The impeachment of President Donald J. Trump in MOOT.

The Senate has zero authority to try any citizen.

H.Res.755 - Impeaching Donald John Trump, President of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors.

The indictment is moot.

No long "President of the United States".

Private citizen Donald John Trump can not be tried in the Senate any more than Jeff Bezos could be tried in the Senate if he were indicted.

Indeed he did.

Of course, most liberals think that history began the moment they were born, or when they got out of bed any given morning.

A heavy campaign must be initiated against ANY Republican who votes to convict. Those Senators must be confronted directly wherever they go with Maxine Waters’ method of running them out of wherever they are. They’re not welcome as representatives of the people any longer — and must KNOW IT.

As presiding judge - under the Constitution - he should just dismiss for lack of constitutionality.

He presides but is not the "presiding judge." He is the parliamentarian acting in place of the of the Senate President or designee. He has no actual authority over the case itself.

There is no constitutional underpinning for holding a trial to remove someone from office after he has left office. Congress is grossly exceeding its authority. If President Trump wanted to run again in 2024 (which I seriously doubt) there would be no enforceable law to stop him.

Not according to the U.S. Constitution. They are holding the impeachment trial not to remove him from office (since he is no longer in office) but to vote to convict to disqualify him from ever being able to hold office again. Disqualification from office is specified in the Constitution as a consequence that can afforded for conviction on impeachment.

“what if Trump is out of country, as some seem to think he is?”

If he were away they would try him in absentia.

He will not be absent, he will have a full-throated legal team and he will present his defense, which will include evidence of election fraud from several states.

The democrats will rue the day they ever gave him the forum! Also, he will NOT be convicted.

“Explain Alcee Hastings. An impeached and removed federal judge now a US Congressman and has been for several terms.”

You can impeach, convict and remove without losing your ability to run again for public office.

Were Trump convicted on a vote, (which will NOT happen), they would need a separate vote the penalty to remove Trump’s ability to run for public office again, (they won’t get that either).

Trump needs to have his A-Game for this.

His legacy is literally on the line. If he can prevail, he can literally turn around his image, that has been poisoned by the media for the last four years, and become stronger than ever.

Impeaching and Trying a privet citizen? Are they insane ... does no one see the insanity in this?

If they conduct a “Trial” of a privet citizen for the purpose of preventing them from ever holding a political office, thing of the consequences.

They could do this to anyone running for office in the future. Thus preventing them from being allowed on the ballot.

They could do this after presidential conventions of the non-Commie parties and disqualify all the opponents just before election day.
