Unlike the 1950s, however, the question will not be whether you have ever been a member of the Communist Party. No, now the question will be much more effective and to the point. It will be “Have you ever been conservative or a member of the Republican Party?”
And as always, today’s progressive Democratic Party is on the ball! Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has revealed members of the House are planning to form a commission to “rein in” conservative media, to prevent them from “spewing disinformation and misinformation.”
During a lengthy Instagram Live on Tuesday evening where she revealed that she feared for her life during the siege, the “Squad” member accused the mainstream media of “spewing disinformation” ahead of the deadly riot in which five people died.
“There’s absolutely a commission that’s being discussed but it seems to be more investigating in style rather than truth and reconciliation,” she said. “I do think that several members of Congress in some of my discussions have brought up media literacy because that is part of what happened here,” Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) went on. “We’re going to have to figure out how we rein in our media environment so you can’t just spew disinformation and misinformation,” she said.

The left can suck on it big time.
Its a stupid spin the wheels commission.
There is no way to stop free speech if it goes into underground mode.
If everyone has to use mesh networks and has to jailbreak phones, they don’t have the ability to track you or know who you are.
They’d have to create a license standard for applications which would stifle innovation on the internet, and wouldn’t work, because people would write software anyway.
That is a hoax quote, though she likely thinks that way.

Another way it’s the 1950s again is in the fact we are seeing the biggest abuse of civil rights violation since the 1950s. Conservatives are being canceled. No longer are we allowed to have a free election. No longer are we allowed freedom of speech in social media. No longer are we allowed to a free and honest education, to worship when we want, to peacefully protest or be allowed to travel in many states.
These two come from the sewers of Chicago politics...of course, that's how they think.
It always rankled me when people said Obama should put some decent people in his admin.

Blacklists spawn their own countervailing culture, you know. Black markets, below-the-radar subversives, the underground network, and secret societies, made up of the “deplorables” and the refugees from Wal-Mart, that send up a smell, to hear those who describe them.

I’ve worked in the defense industry my entire career (to include my stint in the Army), but I’m looking for a job in private industry now.
I’m actually concerned they’ll start revoking clearances of anyone not ‘woke’ enough sometime over the next couple years.

The original blacklists were perpetrated by the dems also, although the 1950’s blacklistings have throught history been blamed on Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy. The truthful history though is somewhat different. Love her or hate her, Ann Coulter wrote a book which is the definitive history of what people now term Mcarthyism. The truth is, the House Unamerican Affairs Committee - (a democrat controlled committee because the House was controlled by the Democrats at that time in history) - was the authority by which the blacklists were perpetrated. McCarthy, because he was given access to the Venona Decrypts knew that some of the people being blacklisted were actually innocent and he warned democrat leadership of this fact, but the dems ignored when he refused to tell them how he knew. If McCarthy had revealed to them that the US was intercepting and could decode the Soviet Union’s most secret messages it would have then been know to the world as some democrat, likely employed by the Soviets, would have leaked it and the US would have lost its most valuable source of intel. That’s the truthful history of McCarthyism.
