Wouldn’t Congress indicting/trying a private citizen constitute a Bill of Attainder? And doesn’t the Constitution specifically ban them?

That and ex-post-facto laws, prohibited.

(A bill of attainder, or corruption of blood, has to do with punishing a person's descendants for a capital crime they did not commit. It's prohibited in the Constitution, although it was still practiced in England until the mid-19th Century.)
