This is kinda funny. I have seven guns, but don’t enjoy shooting. And I inherited four of them when my father died last summer.
But they are basically on that list. I did the same thought process the author did, and applied it when we bugged out of Seattle to the 32 acres in rural Kentucky 9 years ago.
SKS - equivalent to the .223 he mentioned as far as usage. ‘
Remington 870 shotgun for “short range” power.
30.06 with a scope for food if necessary.
.380 with very deadly rounds for in the car. (it was all I could afford)
.22 with a scope for varmints (we have chickens to protect)
And then from my dad:
Ruger 1022 with scope and a bunch of high capacity magazines.
SKS (another one) with a bunch of high capacity magazines.
Glock 15 with seven magazines, two of which hold 32 rounds.
Mossberg 930 semi-auto shotgun with pistol grip.
Fotunately my dad also had about 40,000 rounds of ammo and I was able to acquire about a third of it (I have siblings).
But I honestly don’t really need any more guns and could probably sell the .380, but my wife really likes it in her bed stand when I’m not home.
And now I have enough ammo to actually get proficient in the use of these weapons, and the property on which to practice.
If I lived in a city I would be very depressed right now. I’d probably be looking for a place somewere in Kentucky or Wyoming. :)
Forget about a Judge. Hundreds of better handgun choices.

I really like my 10MM carbine. Versatile for distances from 5-150 yards, accurate and great knockdown power with the ability for 20-30 round magazines. Carry that along with a AR-15 and a good .40 Cal handgun....

The “rack your shotgun to scare away the bad guy” meme is getting really old. Has anyone actually seen this work in real life? In 6 decades of life I’ve never heard of it. If I’m engaging someone, especially within my home, my strategy is stealth and concealment followed by all hell breaking loose.
Other than this and recommending a .410 pistol for home defense his recommendations are good, but not exactly new information. I’d add that in a SHTF situation it’s best to have firearms in calibers that are in common military use.
As a former/long-service Army RANGEMASTER, USAMPS “Black Hat” & retired state/federal Peace Officer, may I suggest the FIVE firearms to have in the soon-arriving time of possible or even LIKELY CIVIL DISORDER?:
1. ANY American-made PUMP SHOTGUN in 12 Gauge, with at least 50 rounds of BUCKSHOT & at least 200 rounds of #6 or #7 1/2 shot.
(MORE shotgun shells than that is a WISE plan, IMO.)
2. A .223/5.56NATO, .30-06 or .308 PUMP or BOLT-ACTION rifle, with a QUALITY 4X scope.
(Semi-Auto rifles & carbines are LIKELY to be BANNED or at least SEVERELY-RESTICTED by the incoming Biden-Harris administration & the GUN-HATERS of the Congress. - “The coming days of civil unrest” are NOT a time to buy any firearm that requires “hard to find ammo”.)
3. A QUALITY .22LR rifle/carbine, with at least 200 rounds of .22LR HP ammo,
(500-1,000 rounds is BETTER, IMO. = A REMINGTON Model 572 FIELDMASTER is “the pick of the litter”, IMO.)
4. A quality/USA made revolver in .38SPL or .357 MAG and/or a pistol in 9mm Lugar, .40 S&W or .45ACP
(I recommend that you buy a COLT’s, S&W or Ruger revolver and/or a semi-auto pistol by COLT, S&W, Browning or SIG = I would also suggest that you NOT buy any revolver/semi-auto from Overseas, that does NOT have readily available spare parts “in stock” IN the USA.)
AND
5. An “extra” 12 Gauge pump shotgun to LOAN OUT to a “gun-less” family member or close friend, in the event that an “extra gun” is needed for family & neighborhood defense.
