Across the country, there is general consensus that 2020 has been the "worst year ever." According to studies, 82% of Americans agree that 2020 has been a terrible year of unprecedented suffering and misery. Experts confirmed that 2020 was indeed the worst year, provided you have never lived in virtually any other time period in all of human history.
"We noticed that most of the respondents who called 2020 the worst year also enjoyed delicious food being delivered to them for 8 months while they sat on their couches with the air conditioning on and binge-watched shows the whole time," said one researcher.
"While we understand it hasn't been easy, we also found very few instances of Viking raids, Black Plague, famine, world war, using rotary telephones, needing to look things up in a physical dictionary, slavery, people being burned at the stake, walking miles to school, living in caves, sleeping on the ground, ice ages, Nazi holocausts, civil war, infant mortality, global floods, ethnic cleansing, using leaves as toilet paper, using leeches as medicine, using wooden mallets as an anesthetic, fighting wild saber-tooth tigers, cannibalism, occupation by the Persian Empire... what was I talking about again? Oh yeah-- most people in 2020 never experienced any of those things, so comparatively speaking it's been a pretty decent year!"

No soup for you!
Oh yes. Offhand I can think of many worse years... Summer and fall of 1941 in Russia for instance. 1939 through 1944 in Warsaw....
1939 through 1944 in Warsaw....
45 through 53 wasn’t much better.
True dat! At my age, however, with preexisting conditions, a bout of Covid would likely be fatal. But I agree it’s mostly a “political plague.”
Both my Mom and my father-in-law went through Pearl Harbor. For my Mom, who was a high school student then, the first days after were the worst, because everyone assumed the Japanese were going to actually invade. Her family apparently had a lot of hunting rifles and a certain amount of handguns around the house (they had a cattle ranch on the Big Island among other things so they were used to having guns around), so my grandfather distributed guns to everyone in the family and they spent the whole first night awake in the dark anticipating the Japanese troops. In the middle of the night there was a lot of gunfire echoing in the valley. It turned out one column of American troops coming up from Kailua met another group of American troops coming the other way from Honolulu. In the dark, they each thought the other group was the enemy, and opened fire. No one was killed in that firefight though. But it was a scary time.
False positives too are pure BS not to mention how they count.

really wonder how 2020 compares to 1941 or the great depression years??
................
From a kid’s perspective, those years were nothing compared to 2020.
Lot of rationing, food, gas, building materials, fake butter we did not get new clothes or new cars or new anything. Used parts to fix your own cars.Bomb shelters and practices under desks for bombs and air raids.
I could go on and on, but we were free, we had leadership that cared like Trump does. We had very low crime because people in trouble had neighbors to help. The bums riding the rails looking for work could always get a meal at our house.
We loved our Country and trusted our doctors, although we did not like some of the leadership.
We had hope. We had a surety we would do better some day.
Just a few thoughts.
