Those of us who care about freedom in The West have got our backs against the wall.
Leftist PC crap has infiltrated universities, justice systems, politics and even police forces in places like the police state of Victoria where I have the misfortune to live.
We need to look elsewhere for hope. There are two countries profoundly more religious than Australia to which I look for this hope.
First there is America - the land of the free where the first amendment gives your freedom more protection than most other countries can.
Then there is Indonesia, my second home, where a laidback tropical culture with a rich fusion of Islamic, Christian, Buddhist and Hindu traditions has created a nation from an archipelago which continually surprises with new proofs that freedom works.
My friend, poet Maman Binfas, is an example. As a poet form the often very traditional small island of Sumbawa, he brings a rural capacity for cutting through crap to the great big megalopolis of Jakarta.
God Bless America.
And Indonesia.
“...Indonesia, my second home...”
-
Well, that explains a lot about you.
Indonesia got many Bang Bang House franchise, good for make bang bang.
Also after bang bang good for write blog, Bang Bang House got free WiFi.
Freedom is usually thought of as a function of constitutions and laws. But it is moral and cultural first. The law formalizes something that must exist already as a matter of tradition and behavior.
Once the moral culture no longer supports it, the law can’t hold it together. That is what is happening to us here. Constitutions don’t matter to people who are no longer moral. And freedom itself is an intolerable burden to people who are no longer willing to govern their own lives.
As Pat Buchanan wrote: “Politics is downstream from culture.”
The largest muslim country in the world where Christians are slaughtered because they aren’t muslims? That Indonesia? Where corruption is a way of life? That Indonesia? Or are you talking about the fairy land next door?
If you want to be free, look for a country where the government essentially leaves you alone. The constitution may not be something out of John Locke, but theoretical freedom and real life freedom as lived by average people are two different things. Its the latter that counts. Its the moral culture that matters.
Exactly.
I don't think your concept of Indonesia is correct. I have found it to be a rich blend of cultures. Overall, Indonesians are polite, courteous, willing to help others, and will defend and support their families.
I am well aware of the religious persecution. I am very well aware of the atrocities committed by some members of their majority religion. I also know that there is MUCH freedom to share the Gospel.
It is my second home, too, and I wish I were there right now.
Tuhan berkati semuanya. Bertumbuh dalam tahu dan anugrah dari Roh Kudus.
God bless everyone. Grow in Grace and the Knowledge from the Holy Spirit.
Selamat Natal dan Tahun Baru 2021. Tuhan berkati.
I don’t understand – – I’ve heard of freedom from religion, but what is “freedom from Indonesia”? It’s not like it’s a huge prevailing presence in our country! It hardly influences us unless at all, I’m missing something?
Indonesia has their own problems, they do stupid stuff all on their own, but I have no idea what this person is on about or why I should care.
“It hardly influences us unless at all, I’m missing something?”
I have spent much time there. I found freedom there.
In geopolitics Indonesia is neutral in the conflict with China. It should be on the side of The West against totalitarianism but is just not on our radar.
Thank you Jemian.
You ask “what is “freedom from Indonesia”? “
...... a type of freedom we dont have and they do ....... if we open up to it, it comes to us from Indonesia.
Tidak apa-apa. Saya mengerti. Saya pasti rindu Indah Indonesia.
