Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has described coronavirus lockdowns as “dictatorship” during a recent press conference with reporters. He described such lockdown measures as “fashionable among authorities … who want to show they are heavy handed, dictatorship”, according a report by the Associated Press.

He went on to claim that the advocates of such measures have “authoritarian instincts” and do not respect the freedom of the Mexican people...

Ain't THAT the truth? Hell, the Mexican Green Party campaigns on a platform to reinstate the death penalty!

I will take their "far left" politicians over their "conservatives" any day! PAN did nothing but backstab us. Vicente Fox continues to be a royal a-hole in private life. Good riddance to Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderon.

It seems perhaps he’s a genuine populist, as most leftists claim to be but few are.

Duarte is a self-described leftist, called far-right by the media,

Okay, what world am I living in? It's as if Rod Serling has taken over this world.

Ain't that the truth? The US media, at least, portrayed Obrador as an unhinged far-left nutjob who would cause the country to collapse, and this is the same media who portrays self-admitted proud socialist and USSR fanboy Bernie Sanders (who refuses to join the RAT party because they are "too right wing") as just as another "progressive" Democrat. The media NEVER admits anyone is "far left", strange that they tagged Obrador as such.

In any case, it seems he's done far more good things for Mexico that alleged "conservatives" Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderon ever did. Twilight Zone, indeed.

Oddly enough, Wikipedia (yes, I'm aware anyone can edit it) actually lists the Mexican Green Party as a "center-right" conservative party despite the fact their main issue is enviromentalism. For what its worth, some of the Mexican Green Party members are on record being vehemently against the homo agenda (try to imagine a US Green Party member taking that stance), and the Mexican Green Party was formally disaffiliated from the Euro HQ worldwide for their support for the death penalty.

Obrador used to be in the "far left" PRD, but he left the party and the "far left" PRD then ran on a coalition ticket with the "conservative" PAN (again, cue Twilight Zone music), whereas Obrador got elected President of Mexico under a new party ticket, MORENA.

Mexican politics make strange bedfellows.

bans government employees for a period of ten years from being hired to work in the companies they regulated while in office.

We surely need this in the USA. Same restriction needed for family members.

We desperately need to upgrade to Mexican voting standards, too. According to the RATS in the USA, Mexicans must be very racist and "want to suppress brown people from voting":

You are exactly right. I wonder how many Democrats, who consider themselves moral people, acknowledge how much their party counts on voter fraud to win elections.

Are they all delusional and believe that things like no voter ID, motor voter with an automatic voter registration default, no requirement to show citizenship in order to register to vote, refusal to clean up voter rolls in Dem strongholds, etc. are to make sure that there is no voter suppression.

They are either delusional or lying.

The weird thing is that if you talk to RAT voters, most of them openly SUPPORT requiring photo-ID in person to vote, and they readily admit our voting laws are lax and should be reformed (RAT politicians, on the other hand, refuse to say either because they know if it was enacted it would make it hard for them to steal elections.)

I've known numerous liberals and they say they agree with me about voter ID laws, and there's also been public opinion polls that reflect that (I think Gallup said even a majority of voters who describe their political views as "Very Liberal" support voter ID laws). I've seen a RAT congresman from a safe RAT district (with family from Mexico, no less!) decry mandatory photo ID for voting laws in the US as "racist", only to see his constituents call him out on that one and point out they are very uncomfortable with letting anyone vote who claims to be so-and-so voter.

But what's truly amazing is all these RAT voters who support photo ID laws will utterly DENY their party wins numerous tightly contested races due to vote fraud. They geninuely seem to believe that although the current voting regulations suck, and that its extremely easy to cheat due to the way things are now, their politicians are good, decent, morally upstanding people who would NEVER resort to doing so, and that widescale fraud almost NEVER happens, and when it does, its only a rare case where the evil Republicans win an election and throw out votes from minorities, blah blah blah.

Talk about cognitive dissonance.
