It is not.
Most cops don’t care, but some do.
They felt the need to get on the ground floor of drone regulation before a junior high kids make a cruise missile.
It wasn’t possible to do that with guns.
Same reason Asprin is available over the counter. Today, it would be prescription only.
Few worthwhile things are ever easy.
In California yes if the weapon is registered. Handguns have been registered since the 90’s and long arms started to be registered around 2014.
As far as CCL go there seems to a cross state sharing of data. There have been documented instances of MD state troopers arbitrarily running FL plates to look for a CCL license then stopping the driver on some pretext so as to tear the car apart looking for a gun.
