The Cleveland Indians shocked their fans by announcing the historic team will be changing its name. Fans of the 105-year-old team have been loyal through times of heartache when losing seasons were all that were on the horizon.

That loyalty was crushed as fans took to social media to express their outrage. Some fans called the move a betrayal while others stated they will never attend games after a name change.

When most people (except the UCSD) look for names for their sports teams, or anything else, they look for things they admire or are awed by: Titans, Bears, Buccaneers, Roughriders, etc. Were I Indian, I would be insulted that my identity is being stripped from a longtime wearer of that TITLE!

The “woke” are destroying the heritage and history of the entire western world, bit by bit, while we just stand wringing our hands.

We are as much to blame as the statue topplers.

Don’t think the team cares all that much what the ‘fans’ want or think. It’s the patrons of the luxury boxes that count. And they do play at ‘Progressive Field’.

The Indians had several pre-Indians names, including the Naps/Napoleons and the Bluebirds.

There was a deifferent franchise in Cleveland of note called the Cleveland Spiders.
