Shocked? Seriously? This move has been hinted/telegraphed/slowrolled over a period of at least three years.
Wow, sounds like somebody is on the warpath. After all, most “Indians” may have mutilated the bodies of their victims but they did spare General Custer from mutilation as they respected him. How about the Cleveland major league baseball team being re-named the “Custers” or perhaps the “Yellow Hairs” as a sign of respect for one of the “Indians’” main opponents whom they defeated and out of respect did not mutilate his body.
My old high school in Texas mascot was the Ysleta Indians as the town of Ysleta was founded by the Ysleta Indians. Such a dumb idea to name the local high school mascot the same as who originally founded the town.
