The blackjack tables remain open in Toledo, Ohio, but some middle schools and all high schools are required to close.
An order issued by Ohio’s Lucas County Regional Board of Health on Nov. 25 mandated that “education for Grades 7-12 (or 9 to 12 depending on school configuration) will be virtual from December 4th until January 11th” to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The order exempts elementary schools, without explaining why.
Due to anticipated issues with students in grades K-6 (unless the school configuration is grades K-8 who can follow K-6 orders), schools may remain open, but may only open those facilities required to provide in- person education for students in those grades.

Tax revenue vs budget expenditure.
You guys in Ohio need to re call Mike DaWino!
Hey the kids can get math lessons at the casino! Brilliant.
You can school from home, but you can’t gamble from home.
Got it.
They can jump across the Indiana line and wager on their smartphones!
Yes, it is well known that casino patrons as a group suffer far fewer serious consequences from Wuhan infections than children.../s
The parents of schoolkids should all drop their kiddies off at the casino, leave them there all day and pick them up again in the afternoon.
There are priorities, you know.
The casino money still pours in, and the government still gets money at gunpoint from the local taxpeasant property "owners".

“Tax revenue vs budget expenditure.”
Budget expenditures will continue even if the public facilities are closed. The government will pay the teachers and administrators full salaries for sitting at home. The school buildings will be heated to keep the pipes from freezing. The maintenance workers will continue to be paid, and likely a few will have to work. If it is like it was in NC, the school cafeterias will still operate so the parents can come by and pick up the free breakfasts and lunches for their children.
During COVID lockdowns I have not seen one county or state worker furloughed or terminated. In my county even librarians were designated “essential workers” so they could receive full pay during the lockdown and closure of public facilities. The libraries were closed and most of the staff was allowed to work from home.
The bureaucracy takes care of itself at all levels of government. Next year income tax receipts will be down significantly due to the bankruptcies of small businesses and losses of jobs. Sales tax receipts will decline. Property taxes will not be paid by many of the unemployed. If Biden takes office the states and localities will demand the federal government print money to cover their revenue shortfalls and likely enough Republicans in Congress will cave to allow for “bipartisan” relief for the states. No locality or state will cut the bloated bureaucracy or eliminate worthless programs. No doubt there is and will be plenty of money to hire diversity training consultants.
It is going to take a complete collapse of the economy before there is any reduction in the size of government.
"The libraries were closed and most of the staff was allowed to work from home."
How exactly does the entire library staff work at home? Virtual restacking the shelves? Unpacking new books? Looking at porn to take up the slack now that the homeless aren't there?
