Maybe this will help: addiction and physical dependence are different issues. Therefore, marijuana treatment for pain may lead to physical dependence but not addiction.
I am under no obligation to tell the truth when it is none of anyone’s business. Anyway, all my firearms, ammo, and reloading gear were destroyed in a tragic boating accident.
CBDs are available OTC, and contain no THC.
That question on the 4473 is meaningless.
This comes back to the absurd categorization of marijuana as a schedule 1 drug, meaning highly addictive and no medical application. Neither is remotely accurate and we’ve known better for decades.
Ultimately, this is the worst of both worlds: punishing those who seek legitimate relief from real medical issues while stripping gun rights away from as many people as possible.
If you really don’t want to break the law by using medical marijuana and want/need to have a firearm, there’s always black powder weapons that are not considered firearms under federal law. Handguns are easy to find, in most states they can be mailed to your home. Finding black powder and caps might be a bit harder.
Yes, I know, it is easy to check ‘no’ on the 4473, but beyond that, using makes you a ‘prohibited person’ who is not supposed to own firearms at all, not just buy them. A prescription leaves a paper trial and a gun-hostile administration...who knows?
Ain’t none of the government’s business whether I own guns or whether I smoke pot.
Interesting – so alcohol could be an issue… but who gets to decide if and when a person is an alcoholic?
It’s regarding STATE gun laws. If the STATE issues me an MJ card legally then I am not using MJ illegally and say so on the form.
Don’t know why that’s so hard to understand.
BTW, a few THC/CBD drops right before bed help a lot with a good night’s sleep when arthritis pain is a problem...or so I’m told.
This is exactly why IMHO, we see the push for legalization of pot—it’s a back door to firearms confiscation.
What guns?
At age 55, my hip joint began having pain. And I had chest pains after eating my favorite restaurant meal (prime rib or T-Bone).
At age 60 my right knee began to have pain. Doc sent me to X-ray, and it showed it was bone on bone grinding together.
And I was getting panic attacks in closed malls while shopping. I quit the job at Argonne labs in Illinois and retired to WA state.
Joined Orchard Hills golf and country club in Washougal, WA which was basically a blue collar club with lots of members from the paper mill nearby. For $250/month fee I could play unlimited golf.
Began with 3 rounds of 9 holes/week and gradually increased it to playing 5 rounds of 18 during the week.
Which means I was walking 30 miles every week.
Unbelievably, all pains disappeared including the knee joint pain. How did that happen? Still baffles me.
I quit golf at age 75 due to moving from WA state to Florida. Now it is daily treadmill for 25+ minutes 6 days every week. Still no pains.
I store my ARs with my MJ stash.
Well I do not partake in the drug but my thought on this? I think that if a person fraudulently answers that question it’s no worse than people fraudulently creating ballots for their chosen candidate. They’ll more than likely never get charged with anything as we now love in a lawless society.
The US Supreme Court has held that answering the questions on the 4473 are akin to self-incrimination.
Never thought I’d be grateful to live in Illinois...
I don’t use cannabis in any format, but I’d rather the option be available to me given the health issues I have.
