Term II, the gloves come off

Despite all the noise, President Donald John Trump has been a nice guy. Too nice. He has been so nice that a 78-year-old demented derelict almost stole the election with 10 million illegal votes.

No more Mister Nice Guy.

His second term should see President Trump use the power we have entrusted in him to lay down the law. This means making certain changes in approach.

As entertaining as they are, he must stop the tweets, act like a businessman, and be the nicest president anyone ever saw -- on the surface. That will allow him to cover the long knives that will be deployed.

Then he should make his moves.

First he must declare the national health emergency over. The science is there. He can cite Sweden's success with herd immunity, and end this foolishness. He should make all federal buildings, parks, and beaches open. He should allow visitors and workers to decide whether they want to wear a mask.

He can point out that covid 19 deaths have been inflated by a factor of up to 10 and that its survival rate tops 99%. It is a seasonal virus.

Second, he must fire Fauci and any other political appointee who was not appointed to that office by him. He can call this a government reform aimed at bringing fresh blood and new ideas to the government that will make it work better for the American people. No one will buy this argument but it will entertain the troops while infuriating the media.

Third, he needs to use Lin Wood in his specialty, which is libel law. Wood should notify CNN, the New York Times, and the Washington Post that they must correct and retract all their Russian Collusion stories. They will believe this is a step toward libel litigation, which they will likely ignore because they foolishly believe a president will lose any and all libel suits.

Instead, President Trump should use this refusal to correct their mistakes (and the list should be so lengthy, none will) as an excuse to remove CNN, the New York Times, and the Washington Post from the press room.

If a judge orders him to reverse that, he should simply close the press room down entirely -- which is the goal -- and invite reporters into the White House on a case by case basis. Kiss up or get cut off. It is an American presidential tradition that predates John Adams.

Fourth, he must downsize government. Let the Pentagon swallow up Homeland Security -- without expanding the Pentagon payroll. Commerce can absorb the departments of education, labor and agriculture, as well as the EPA, again without an expansion of its payroll.

Likewise, the intelligence community will be pared, and the FBI turned into a training center for state and local law enforcement, National Instant Criminal Background Check System, and museum. A fish rots from the head and the FBI is now an unsalvageable Leviathan.

Elsewhere, freeze hiring. We do not need ICE to be infiltrated with communists like every other agency of the government.

The president must be willing to use the looming budget crisis as an excuse to shrink government. Make the deep state shallow again.

Finally, the president should not hesitate to fight the courts. DACA must be revisited, and the ability of a mere district judge in Hawaii to stop national policy must end as well. President Trump must use that new 5-4 conservative majority to correct decades of judicial abuse.

I also would lean on Roberts and Breyer to retire. If not, add two justices and pass a constitutional amendment making an 11 member court a permanent number.

Let three little words guide him in Term II: That's not nice.

And if it is not nice, do it with relish.

Unless we see some major progress this week, “almost stole” is likely to become simply “stole.” December 14th is fast approaching.

Other than that, agree with most of this.

Why wait until his second term?

I hope he fires Wray. When it is official that he will have 4 more years I think Roberts and Sotomayor will retire. Possibly Breyer too. And I hope if they did make a deal with Haspel it is only until he is officially the winner. How can they trust her.

Exactly. Trump should have been doing this all along.

It's nice (and fun) to wish, but the reality is there needs to be something YUGE and concrete this week.

Not being a downer or defeatist, just a realist.
The conspiracies that have been bandied about on Freerepublic are fun, and would be awesome if true, (maybe they are), but life is not unicorns and rainbows - sometimes the evil side wins the battle and we have to pick up the pieces. Clean-up in aisle 13....

“Stop the tweets”

On the contrary, keep tweeting. They are the soul of our fight against the Fake News.

Repeal 230, and start suing the bastids!

You’re right. Much of Trump’s popularity is due to his bold and undiplomatic style. Keep the tweets!

Mr. Surber has some excellent ideas.

Very imaginative ones at least.

I chuckle at the word “undiplomatic”.

Here is a President who has scored an A++ in foreign diplomacy - North Korea, Iran, Israel, Middle East Peace, crushing ISIS, getting NATO to pay more.

I touched on this theme in a 2017 vanity:

Well, that is what I have been hoping for.
We have to pray that election is resolved in President Trump’s favor. Otherwise, the Democrats will turn our Senators and Representatives. The DoJ and FBI will trump up charges and find blackmail material against them, etc., until they cooperate.
